Every type of transportation requires fleet maintenance regularly.
: : :
Here,
a few blocks south of the Seattle Amtrak Terminal,
in the SOSO District, is their maintenance yard.
: : :
Surprisingly,
South Holgate Street cuts their facility in two
and there are no barriers (ie: fencing) to obstruct the view of the workers and their activities.
: : :
Every time I pass through it is bustling with activity,
even very early in the morning.
Here at 06:10,
a workman pulls a barrel on a hand truck between two rows of passenger cars awaiting further service.
The little yellow stools to the left are to help them step up into the cars,
and a moment or two later this fellow did just that and disappeared into a car.
: : :
The colors,
lighting
and activity
drew my attention into this scene.
Watching people work is fascinating,
don’t you agree?

. . . I wonder . . . how many photos do you take each week . . . always so interesting over here
When I’m really well and ‘normal,’ probably 300-800 images…
It is always so interesting to see behind the scenes. Great photo, thanks for sharing it!
Love the bright colors and the perspective you’ve captured in your photo.
Neat Madge! You always show such unique perspectives!
Hello, Madge,
You photographed this place amazingly beautiful. It’s a very compelling photograph. I am not sure that I would be able to capture it in such a fantastic way.
I wish you nice weekend and creative.
Great shot, I really life the dof!
Wonderful shot ~ powerful and dramatic style ~ Happy Weekend to you ^_^
The colours here drew my eyes in as wll as the repeated yellow lines.
I love the angle down low on this.
The colors, the repetition, the perspective – they all make this a wonderful shot.
wonderful composition Madge!
I have to agree with you about capturing people in their work environment. This photo without the worker would have been very nice with the tones and lines but that added element of the worker for me makes the photo much more appealing. Great shot!
Marvelous shot Madge.
As always – great composition. I really like your perspective shots and the repetitive yellow verticals.
The subject is really interesting too…you are inspiring me to try something new!
All the live long day…
Really delicious and very good perspective in this picture! I love it!
Although a simple photograph, it loudly shows your control over photographic art!
That’s colorful and love the depth of field!
I love how you manage to capture the beauty that is there in the ordinary.
reminds me about what I used to do for a living.
Do you work in that facility in the summer? It is amazing that you can take those photos, that it is not in a guarded yard.
No, I don’t work there. It is rather amazing that it is wide open.
This photo is perfect! The colors, the framing, everything! Great eye!
