Working on the Railroad – Weekly Top Shot #92

Working on Amtrak Railroad Cars - SODO District - Seattle WA

Every type of transportation requires fleet maintenance regularly.

:  :  :

Here,

a few blocks south of the Seattle Amtrak Terminal,

in the SOSO District, is their maintenance yard.

:  :  :

Surprisingly,

South Holgate Street cuts their facility in two

and there are no barriers (ie: fencing) to obstruct the view of the workers and their activities.

:  :  :

Every time I pass through it is bustling with activity,

even very early in the morning.

Here at 06:10,

a workman pulls a barrel on a hand truck between two rows of passenger cars awaiting further service.

The little yellow stools to the left are to help them step up into the cars,

and a moment or two later this fellow did just that and disappeared into a car.

:  :  :

The colors,

lighting

and activity

drew my attention into this scene.

Watching people work is fascinating,

don’t you agree?

  1. Hello, Madge,

You photographed this place amazingly beautiful. It’s a very compelling photograph. I am not sure that I would be able to capture it in such a fantastic way.

I wish you nice weekend and creative.

  2. I have to agree with you about capturing people in their work environment. This photo without the worker would have been very nice with the tones and lines but that added element of the worker for me makes the photo much more appealing. Great shot!
