Ferns are such beautiful and varied plants.

In the Pacific Northwest,
west of the Cascade Mountains, you will find a myriad of ferns.
I’m not entirely sure of the species I’ve captured here,
but I have about five varieties native to our area in my gardens for greens that last all summer long.

Today is ‘Random 5 Friday,’ over at my friend Nancy’s place.
Here are five random facts about me:
1. I LOVE country music, especially George Strait’s music.
2. I like toasted cheese sandwiches and tomato soup together.
3. The car I’ve owned in the past that I wish I still had is the 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner with a 383 cu. inch engine, factory four speed with a 3/4 racing cam, it was one hot, fast car!
4. I like getting up early in the morning, I guess that makes me a morning person. Come on people we’re burnin’ daylight!
5. One of my favorite movies is ‘Country,’ staring Jessica Lange and Sam Shepard.
There you go,
five things you had to know about me,
not!

pretty, tender leaves!
the leaves are a beautiful shape! I have never ever seen a fern that its leaves make think of its being from a deciduous plant.
They are very interesting things and I am happy that I know you better.
I’m from a little north of you and I love Ferns…back then I tried transplanting them but they died, I bought them from the nursery they died..grew everywhere but in my garden.
Beautiful green tones! Congrats!
Lovely ferns. Green is my favorite color. Tomato soup and grilled cheese — soul food! The older I get, the more I like country music. Wonder why that is? Enjoyed your 5. Have a great week.
I’ve never seen a fern like that — very pretty! I had a 1995 Ford Bronco that I had to sell due to financial issues — and I wish I still had it.
Thanks for joining in this week Madge.
So lovely.
Beautiful green…one of my favorite colors! Trace Adkins is my fave right now and out here we call them grilled cheese sandwiches. You cannot beat that combo – grilled/toasted cheese sandwich and tomato soup…comfort food!
I like George Strait’s music, too, and totally agree with #2.
What an awesome photo Madge!
I love toasted cheese sandwiches – I need to try them together with tomato soup! And thank your for recommending the film “Country” … I’ll write the name down :)
Happy Summer Solstice to you, Madge!
A terrific photo! I love the greens of summer, until August, when everything goes brown from lack of rain!
My mother had one of these ferns in a pot, she would put old tea leaves on it. It grows in central Texas under the limestone rocks around little waterfalls and streams, places that are constantly wet and get little sun. I don’t know what it is called. I too love the morning freshness, I just don’t like waking up that early.LOL
