Looking south along Draper Road near Colfax WA, a working farmstead sits in a hollow in the undulating Palouse hills.
: : :
Farms and barns dot the rolling region of the Palouse around every few bends in the road.
Here a red barn with a soft green metal roof caught my eye as I looked in my rear view mirror,
the scene was pleasing, so I stopped in the middle of the road,
hopped out and grabbed a few shots before moving on towards Elberton, WA.
: : :
Elberton is in essence a ghost town,
the only building left standing is a lovely red brick church
which in its day sheltered the worshippers
of the United Brethren congregation
who gathered there.

Madge…this is STUNNING!! Do you know Wendy of Almota Roses Photography? I think she’s from your neck of the woods!
This is a terrific photo: The road that drops off, the barn, the clouds….just really nice.
You’ve done it again, Madge. Wonderful.
I agree! Stunning!
love the rolling terrain – and the cloud shadows just add to it.
What a beautiful landscape scene! I love the soft, muted light.

You captured an awesome mood in this shot. I love the color and clouds. Very neat taking the pict on a hill and the road going down.

Very extreme. That’s what I like about EW although I could not live without TREES!! The rolling hills, the clouds, the ranch—everything is perfect. MB

Other than perhaps your nighttime shots, the landscapes you find in your camera lens are my favorites!
Well that was a “wow” moment….what an eye for a picture you have! Oh, this has got to win some kind of barn award. Love, love, love, love this picture more than any of a barn I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing!
