Yellow Barn in Bordeaux

Mellow yellow… barn… This very large, wood shingled barn sits in a large field north of the abandoned Weiks Everygreen Dairy in what was the pioneer lumberjack town of Bordeaux, WA. I’m wondering if this might have been the original barn for the dairy, but there is no one to ask, so that is just supposition. Several times I’ve been by this barn near Littlerock south of Olympia, it has always been late near dusk, and the fields surrounding the barn have been filled with a very large herd of perhaps forty or fifty elk.

  1. What a beautiful ol barn, but I just don’t understand how people can afford to abandon a home, much less an entire farm! =0 How is that possible? Unless they couldn’t make the mortgage & it’s a foreclosure? Terrible situation, to be sure!

I wish someone would buy the place & restore that old barn, because it looks like a special one! You said Bordeaux & I immediately thought France & that barn looks like it could sit in the French countryside! =)

Thank you very much for joining this week’s Barn Charm, much appreciated! =)

Do you mean it is abandoned? How sad, that is a beautiful barn. It looks like just a really pretty place.
My cousins had a lovely barn in the Salem area in Oregon. We loved it so much.
That breaks my heart it is so pretty.

Beautiful shot! Like others, I thought you’d nipped off to France to get a little variety in your posts. Don’t you wish? Sad to think such a big operation is gone but farming is tough and it’s so hard to stay viable. . . We have a herd of elk here in Sequim. . .my husband’s seen them but I’ve yet to track them down.

  4. When we come to Bainbridge to see my son and his family this summer, I am going to have to get them to take me to see this Old World looking barn. Gotta put your posting in my bookmarks so I can come back to it. Try to make a mental note of where it was so you can help me out. I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Your capture is drop dead gorgeous. genie
