Red barns abound in the Palouse, the premier wheat growing region of southeast Washington State.
Here along Highway 195, south of the Whitman County seat of Colfax, is a lovely well kept red barn. With just a glimpse of its red crown peeking above the edge of a fast growing field of green wheat, full of the coming promise of the next harvest.
this is amazing, the view looks like someone picked the barn up and pushed it down in that valley as inserted it. beautiful and so different. not the average view of a barn. love it.
It does rather look like that, doesn’t it?? I love it too!
Great whimsical photo with a bit of unexpected.
That view is a bit unexpected isn’t it!?
What a great photo spot you chose. The barn almost looks like it is coming up out of the ground along with the wheat.
I agree, that farmstead is nestled in against the higher fields, I’m sure in winter during blowing bitter winds and snow that it affords some protection.
This photo is outstanding. It should be on a gallery wall!
Thank you Sharon, you are too kind!
i love this!!!
Thanks!
Add this to the list of your great Palouse pics Madge!

This precious barn looks like it is playing hide and seek in this photo. Such a nice capture which you composed beautifully. genie
Thanks Genie… it was quite accidental… spotted the barn, and this is where I could get off the road! A happy accident!

That is one B I G sky!
Yes… the skies do seem to do on forever there!

Thank you, Nani… it is such a beautiful area of Washington state.
I love this! Washington State has such a beautiful variety of scenery. I was in Eastern Wa. for the first time this spring and was thrilled by its beauty! Having grown up on the Coast, the bare rolling hils make such a refreshing change!
Susan… I love the wide open feel of eastern WA…
I love ‘peek-a-boo’ barns. Nice shot.
