‘Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble.’ Not really, this isn’t a scene from ‘MacBeth,’ it is a very early morning view of the kitchen at work in Cafe Campagne. Cafe Campagne is a small French Bistro located in the heart of Pike Place Market at 1600 Post Alley, in downtown Seattle. Occasionally attended by a chef, I wonder what is or will be cooking in the very large pot on the fire of a gas stove in the kitchen? I love the shimmer of steam above the boiling pot, the glass storage jars lined up on the shelves behind on the wall, and the skillets ready for service stacked in front. I’ve simply got to stop into the Cafe one of these days when I’m wandering around the market for a morning of shooting what’s happening, they usually have a cute bright red Vespa scooter (view here) sitting in the alley near the patio seating.
even though i know it, the fact that anything at all can make a beautiful photo, I forget until I am reminded by a photo like this. every day life as seen by the lens. of course it makes a difference who is holding the lens.
Nice capture of a quite time in the kitchen.
Great shot Madge. It feels warm and welcoming.
This shot is fantastic! Love the light and the atmosphere, I can almost smell the food.
Great shot. You are so lucky to have a place like that to just wander and photograph. You have caught the simple and made it divine.
I love a well stocked kitchen, and this one looks it! What a treat it must be to work in this bistro! Wonderful shot…
Oh, definitely try to get a shot of the scooter in the alley. That would be awesome! :)
Yes, I like this one also Madge!
Yhat’s gorgeous — and makes me hungry and wishing I had a big kitchen. (We are on a roadtrip, sorta’ camping out, so our kitchen right now is even smaller than usual.) Eating out is also an option — where’s that restaurant now ;>)
