Seagulls flutter in the ocean breeze. At Ocean Shores, a popular Pacific Ocean destination on the Washington coast, locals and tourists alike are drawn to the long sandy beaches filled with wide open spaces and activities, like seagull watching. This day, there were huge flocks of seagulls resting on the edge of the surf, which would flutter up and out of your way if you encroached on their space. I enjoyed the misty look of this silhouetted scene. My husband and I played on the beach with our dog, Lucy, then savored a picnic by the sea, watching people, pets and the tide roll in. What do you like to do on the beach?
I’ve always wanted to see what the Pacific Coast looked like. Thanks for the tour (and for stopping by my place!…:)JP
Often on our coast it looks a bit misty, but I’ve only see it all my life and i saw the Atlantic Ocean once near Cape Canaveral in Florida and it looked like the Pacific here… perhaps they all look a bit the same??
I like this one. Seagulls can be kind of disgusting, but not this one.
Yeah… sometimes they can be… but here the scene worked didn’t it??
My husband went on a business trip there years ago and brought me some tea from Pikes Place…I so wish I could go there…and I am so glad I found your website so I can see and hear your post from the area…It is beautiful…thanks
Thank you! I enjoy Murchie’s Tea from Vancouver BC the most… thanks for stopping by!
this is great!
Thank you!
great shot. engulfed in gulls.
Yes, she sure is…!
So beautiful enlarged AND as a thumbnail. TexWisGirl beat me to it, “engulfed in gulls.”
Yes, Madge……..I am not a spammer :)
Lol… the spammer ‘tick’ box, I thought that was better than the tiring process of the CAPTCHA box… I’m glad you’re not a spammer, I enjoy your visits!!
very beautiful photo !!!!!
Thanks, Vicky!
Very atmospheric picture, almost like a watercolour painting.
It was quite monochromatic, ethereal and I agree something like an impressionist watercolor!
Excellent capture, Madge!
Great job you’re doing with the blog. I particularly like all the marine related coverage you give us around the PNW.
Thanks, Raf! I appreciate your commendation… as to the maritime shots… how can I not?? Always something so interesting and colorful to find and shoot!! ;-)
Now, that’s a LOT of birds! WoW! =)
LOTS yes, lots of seagulls, I’ve been to the coast up and down Washington all my life, at least a couple times a year, and this was largest number of gulls I’ve ever seen… wonder why??
I love this…really really nice….I have linked this post to my other blog…you might like it better than Pics & Pieces. Don’t think my photography quite matches yours…but still it is mainly a photographic blog.
Thank you, Rose! I appreciate everyone’s point of view while capturing life around them.
Fantastic shot!
Thank you, Leanne!
Lovely shot! Love the way she is surrounded by the birds. The light is really nice too.
Thank you… she really was in the midst of them…
I’ve never seen so many seagulls in one place.
Honestly… neither had I…
It almost looks like there’s a bird about to be sitting on her hand as well. That’s a ridiculous amount of feathers to be had! Very nice.
I agree Kat… feathers, feathers, everywhere…
Just a superb and unique image!
Thank you, Gunn! It is rather monotone, but I like that about the scene.
