Silo : si·lo : sīlō: [noun] : a tower or pit on a farm used to store grain.

Near Morton
in east Lewis County,
this dairy farm has been out of the dairying operation
now for several decades.
The current owner does raise some beef cattle though.
But the old barns and silo still stand as testament
to a business well run and
a life well lived.
This has become a favorite place to visit,
down at the end of a long dead-end rural strip
of one lane blacktop.
There is just something attractive
about this huge Broad Leaf Maple tree
and the silo that sits
across the farm
lane.

We are still having snowfall here in Morton.
Receiving a couple of inches on Friday and Saturday,
but it melted off during the days.
Today the snow line has risen
to about 2,000 feet
to the tops of the foothills of the
Cascade Mountains
surrounding
town.

That makes a lovely and peaceful scene.
Yes truly. I was up there this morning shortly after sunrise.
What a beautiful spot!
Snow that melts off in hours, or a day or two, is the best kind. It’s ok for a little while but can quickly wear out its welcome.
Yes truly! We’ve had a few inches a number of times this winter but nothing like February and March 2019!
