Logging Truck - Near Emida ID Log·ging : lôɡiNG,ˈläɡiNG : [noun] : the activity or business of felling trees and cutting and preparing the timber.

Here,

near the tiny town of Emida, ID,

a logging truck driver carries his load of timber to the mill.

Logging trucks used to be such a common sight along rural roads all over the northwest.

These days,

the timber industry is still alive and working,

but not at all as it was in its height 30 or 40 years ago.

This driver clearly had spotted me

(on the shoulder of the road shooting something else)

swinging around to ‘shoot’ him

as he heavily rumbled by on the grey two-lane

ribbon of blacktop

road.

  1. Wow – up close and personal. What a shot. So many times I have seen cars pass a loaded logging truck and cut right back in, close up to the front of the truck. They are not thinking of the time it would take that truck to stop in an emergency – those trucks are huge and to be respected. Your photo really brings out the significance of the trucks doing their job.
