Bu·oy : bo͞oē : [noun] : an anchored float serving as a navigation mark, to show reefs or other hazards, marking crab pots and fishing nets, or for mooring.

One of my favorite ‘go to’ places in Seattle
is Fishermens Terminal in Ballard
on Salmon Bay.
There are always fishermen tending their boats,
or pots, or nets, or long lines.
I have yet to meet a fisherman
who wouldn’t take a few minutes to chat
and explain what they were doing or what a particular
piece of equipment is for.

Here,
I’ve shot down between two fishing boats
capturing the brightly colored pot buoys
used as dock bumpers
while berthed.

Love the vibrant colors of your photo.
Wharfs are always a good place to find subjects to photograph and you have some great ones in the Seattle area, Madge.
SO GOOD to hear from you Bruce!
Very much like this photo. The Terminal is, no doubt, a target rich environment. I would be interested in knowing what the painted symbol on the buoy means.
Great color.
The colors and placement make this one.
Fabulous color – growing up in Southeast Alaska as a fisherman’s daughter, I too love the docks and boats.
How colorful, they catch your attention for sure.
