The peaks of the Cascade Mountain Range are rugged and beautiful.

Mount Stuart,
located east of the summit on Snoqualmie Pass,
in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness area,
stands 9,416 feet in elevation,
the second tallest non-volcanic peak
in Washington state.

Here,
on an early late winter morning,
I’ve caught the first weak, pink rays of daylight
on the flanks of Mount Stuart,
from the rest stop on Interstate 90
called
Indian John Hill.

At the time,
I was heading for the Palouse for a week long photography trip.
I hope to spend a few days in the Palouse in June
when the canola fields are in brilliant yellow bloom
and the wheat is still a rich
emerald green.

Super shot of the sun rays hitting the mountain.
I always enjoy your shots taken during your Palouse trips. This is gorgeous.
