Hat : noun : a shaped covering for the head worn for warmth, as a fashion item, or as part of a uniform.

Here,
early one morning in downtown Seattle,
I was out ‘shooting’ and took shots of the window displays in several of the stores.
: : :
This one caught my eye.
The contrast between the blocked colors of yellow and green in background
were visually striking,
then given the mannequin’s green shirt
and fashionable yellow Fedora hat,
well, it was a treat
for my eyes!
: : :
Have you noticed women wearing styles of hats
that were once reserved for men,
specifically the Fedora?
I have.
: : :
I have one
that belonged to my step mom’s dad
who lived to 100,
it is a classic brown one with a satin lining
and ribbon around
the crown.
: : :
Unfortunately,
it is a bit too big for me
(my husband tells me I have a pin head, pshaw, good things come in small packages, yes??)
I haven’t been able to think of a way
to ‘make’ it fit so I can wear it when it rains.
What do you think?
Any ideas?

Today, is ‘Random 5 Friday‘ over at my friend Nancy’s Place, ‘A Rural Journal,’
where participants list five random facts about themselves.
Here are mine for today:
(1) I have a classic brown Fedora hat that doesn’t fit (you already know this from my post today!).
(2) I am shopping today for fabrics to make valances for a couple rooms in my house,
using burlap and homespun, in blues and browns.
(3) I think I’m catching a cold (oh no)…
(4) My husband and I had our portrait taken yesterday for the new church directory,
and we will use it as our 30th Anniversary photo.
(5) I’m trying to eat only when I’m hungry and stop when I’m full. Normally,
I can eat when ever, tired, mad, glad, sad, well you get the picture!

Also sharing with ‘Weekend Reflections.’

See you
tomorrow for
Weekly Top Shot #108.

I started to leave a comment on Facebook, but decided I wanted to come to your blog instead. I love the unbelievably wide range of photo opportunities that you have–and use–but I’m also envious! Nice fashion capture here!
Oh I love the yellow fedora my Dad always wore one and my Grandpa to but they were also brown. Maybe your head will grow:)
Take care of that cold. Happy Anniversary if it is coming up a new photo would be wonderful to have.
The curtains sound nice. Hug B
Classy. Both the hat and the fact that you photographed it. Nice.
That’s a classy hat- I love the color!
love the vivid color of both the background and the clothing! Tams are the only style of hats that I was comfortable wearing in the past. I would love to wear a fedora if I could find one in a color I like. Chase that cold away, if you can! You and I have number 5 in common, but I have stopped eating after supper, trying to clear my throat of all its problems. Happy weekend to you!
Love that yellow fedora. Though doubt I could pull it off -wearing one ;)
Great color in that hat. My father wore a fedora when I was a child.
That’s one snappy hat.
I love hats and have quite a collection — this is such a neat image. :)
Good eye to see the possibility for this shot. I like it too. Well done.
The only time I wear a hat is when I need protection from the sun, so the yellow fedora isn’t for me. Would love to see a picture of you in your brown one, though. I need to practice a little of #5 myself.
Such a great composition ! You took the most of the reflection and of your subject, well done !
Love seeing women wear the Fedora looking hats. I’d love to wear them as well, but never think I look as good. I tend to sport more the baseball cap look! LOL!
