Sea stacks are pillar rock type formations along the rugged Pacific coast line.
: : :
Here,
at Rialto Beach
a few miles west of the town of Forks WA,
these sea stacks stand
like ghostly sentinels in the salty mist
as the light of day wanes.
: : :
One always hopes
for those spectacular sunsets while at the beach
and yes,
sometimes they do happen,
but more often
are these quiet closes to day’s end,
swathed
in
pastel
hues.

Exquisite!
Very impressive sight. You captured the scene just perfectly.
Amazing how the trees grow on the rocks. At first glance, I thought I was viewing battleships!
Neat shot, Madge. I have never heard of Sea Stacks. I like the fog and colors. The way you captured the ocean waves really adds to the photos dimension.
oh, my! those trees stick to the rock like barnacles on a whale. lovely shot, madge!
Wow! What a place and fantastic shot! Happy Weekend ~ carol, xxx
I feel as though I could walk right into this photo, Madge. Stunning capture. Makes me want to see it in person.
Nice shot! I love the sea stacks in the area around Olympic National Park!

Wow, that is so beautiful Madge, it’s like a painting.
nature is always a wonder!
I’ve always wanted to take a photo like this, Madge! I lived in Oceanside, Oregon for at least two years (4 years in Tillamook) and just wasn’t doing the “photography thing” during that time!
So, so, SO pretty! This looks like a Japanese brush painting – absolutely lovely! Great shot!
So gorgeous! It’s a breath-taking scene!
Gorgeous shot! I love the mist and the muted colors, it makes for a eerily soothing composition. If that makes any sense.
Have a great weekend.
Beautiful play of misty blue and grey tones. Very scenic.
I love the colour and atmosphere of this shot, Madge. There is an oriental feel to the scenery…
Lovely shot!
Doesn’t even look like a photo, amazing outcrops
Beautiful composition.
Very different from anything I’ve seen around the Great Lakes. ;)
Very cool shot!
The formations are so interesting BUT…it’s those trees growing out of them that mesmerizes me!
What a great view.
Gorgeous shot! It looks like something out of Lord of the Rings.
I’ve never even heard of sea stacks, but your photograph of them is absolutely beautiful!
Very cool- I’ve never seen or heard of sea stacks before..what a gorgeous shot!
Amazing structures and great shot.
the sea’s color is my favorite shade of blue!
well done, dear Marge.
What a marvelous, magical, scene that is!
Really wonderful photo Madge! I do hope you’ll send me something for the gratitude quilt this year.

Such a peaceful Photo – those turquoise – grey tones are beautiful … the sea, and those rocky formations … such an experience it must have been to be out there!
These look like something from the imagination of the animators in Hollywood.
So beautiful. I love seeing your part of the world. It’s so different from where I live.
your coast photo is truly stunning. There seeme to be mist adding to the scenery. Love it.
This shot is phenomenal! I love it
Amazing shot, Madge, simply perfect!
Oh so peaceful…sigh.
I’ve never been here but boy is it fabulous looking.
I love these stacks! They are quite similar to ‘islands’ off the coast of New Zealand.
