Photographic mistakes happen to us all.
: : :
Here,
a couple years ago,
driving along in the frozen,
foggy, wide-open ruralness near Antelope in eastern OR,
I was horsing around shooting out
of the moving vehicle.
(I wasn’t driving.)
: : :
When I looked later at what I’d caught,
apparently I’d inadvertently changed the white balance to Tungsten,
and my image came out blue.
: : :
It is just off,
focus is off due to the speed of travel,
but for some odd reason I like what I caught,
these two American flags draped on a display along side a wagon wheel
within a fence line.

makes for a rather somber image but i like it, too.
Happy accidents, I like to call them. If you shot in Raw you could change the exposure. Raw has saved me many times. Still like this tho! :)
I think I do probably have this image in RAW someplace… that’s a whole other issues, organizing my thousands upon thousands of images!
I thought I was at the wrong blog for just a second…I do like it. Just something about it, isn’t there?
It boils down to lines, shapes, and color. Interesting mistake!
Some of my favorite photos have been mistakes…or happy accidents, as I call them. :)
Well it is a marvelous shade of blue. Interesting shot.
i like the way it turned out too!
As I went to link my image of a sunset, I happened a glance out the window to see the sunrise…..a sweet baby blue sky with glowing wispy lines of pale coral clouds. I wanted to grab the camera and catch the light and color and silhouette of trees. But my room has screens on the window and the scene is changing as fast a I type and if I went downstairs I wouldn’t be able to get it and telephone poles would loom large. So, I just will enjoy it as the clouds fade to pastel.
At first when I saw your photo today I thought I’d accidentally clicked on it and the photo had turned blue. Haha! And then I thought it was one of your water scenes….and then I looked closely. Sometimes we have happy accidents. I like those. And I like your accidental image, Madge. :)
May your day be filled with joy…and an extraordinary “happy accident” or two :)
Like Kay said, the lines and shapes really make it interesting, a very happy accident! :)
an interesting image. i love the symmetry of the flags and wheel!!
Bob Ross, the painter who had that meditative voice on PBS for years and years would have called this a “happy accident”:-)
Happy Rurality Wednesday, Madge! Hope you are having a wonderful week.
It is a rather creative photo ~ a bit ‘Zen like’ ~ I love it ~ Happy Day to you ~ carol, xxx
ps. thanks for your response about ‘cameras’ and I will get back to you ~ bit hectic here at the moment ~
I just love happy mistakes like that! This is really a great catch!
I like it. It’s very dramatic!
What a beautiful “accident”!
Love that blue♪♫ Being able to recognize how to turn a mistake into a positive experience…now that’s talent! Have wonder filled week! http://lauriekazmierczak.com/amazing-grace/
I have many ‘failed’ photo attempts that I think still have merit; in my eye anyway. I love your BLUE photo! The flags and gate are terrific together :)
We all have those ooopsie photos and some, like this, were meant to be. :)
Glad you weren’t driving lol. Sometimes those mistakes come out really cool. Have a great day!
blue is my favorite color!
It’s a very interesting photo. If you hadn’t told us it was a mistake, I’d have thought you purposely achieved this effect through editing.
“Special Effects” mean never having to say you’re sorry.
Madge
I have been following your blog for a year now, I have never seen a bad photo. Antelope Oregon, I have not thought about that place for years. You probably remember it’s claim to fame in the 80’s.
