It’s all in a day’s work.
: : :
Here,
in the town of Burien,
a Parks Department employee uses an industrial leaf blower
to push fallen maple leaves into a huge pile
for clean-up.
: : :
As I was driving by,
the sun was behind this fellow and the leaves were soaring into the air
and drifting back to the ground,
while the light lit the leaves as though from the inside.
: : :
I parked,
walked into the park,
spoke with him and asked if it would be okay if I took a few pictures
while he worked.
: : :
I explained how beautiful the leaves were as they bounced around
in the light as the blower made them dance.
He offered to make a few extra passes
so I could get a couple shots.
He was very nice
and I was delighted with the results of his kindness.
: : :
The fall colors are about gone here in Seattle.
Tomorrow another storm front will come through,
with heavy rain and wind,
they should deliver a one-two punch
that will down the rest of the leaves
grasping
for their last
autumnal
hurrah.

Gorgeous .. Just love the color.
Dear one, you continue to blow my skirt up with your amazing photos. You are so good with the camera but also awesome in choosing your subjects….
Thanks for hosting.
Gracious! The color and quantity are amazing. We have fallen leaves around here, but they’re brown and ugly. :(
Beautiful colors.
That’s a LOT of beauty to have to clean up! :)
What a wonderful photo! I love the lighting and the flying leaves. You need to share your blog address with that leaf-blowing employee. I think he’d enjoy seeing this, too.
Fantastic capture Madge!
The leaves were falling fast here one day and I tried to get a shot of them swirling before they hit the ground to no avail. I know now what I needed. :)
Love this shot! The light is lovely.
Marvelous shot of the leaves swirling around ~ happy weekend to you ~ carol, xx
ps. our weather here on the east coast sounds and looks very similar ~ ^_^
What a perfect depiction of autumn and what it looks and feels like.. xox
This is so gorgeous! The leaves are beautiful in so many different colors!
that was so nice of him! I’m always afraid to ask if I can take photos of strangers
I’m glad the fellow was kind and helpful to you. The shot is very good with that fine light and the autumn leaves.
What gorgeous colours, and a very obliging guy!
Super shot of the swirling leaves.I have found many workers pleased to let me photograph them as that makes them see the beauty in the job they do. This worker sounds lkie he was extra nice, though.
What a nice fellow, Madge. And his red vest really pops in your photo. Love the way you captured the dancing leaves. A lovely shot. I hate to see autumn and all its beauty come to an end. Thankfully, it will be back next year. :)
He’s got a big job! :)
Beautiful photo Madge. I think when we give most people a chance, we find they are kind.
Lovely to see Autumn with you is every bit as beautiful as here. Such a great time to take photos
This is a fabulous shot and I love your description. I haven’t been able to get out to photograph but I truly appreciate those colors on the way to work. They make the drive a lot more bearable. And the autumn sun is the best lighting you can get. Hope all is well with you. I know you are loving your new status!!!
How lovely, Madge, with the sun catching those leaves. Love what you wrote. The ending is pure poetry.
What a great way to photograph fall leaves! Certainly the most creative.
Great capture!! My girls and cats would love to play in that huge pile of fallen leaves! :)
Great shot, Madge. Some people are very flattered if you ask them to take their photo, while others can be downright nasty! Glad you struck a good sort.
Thanks for hosting.
It sure beats raking!
Oh and Madge, I invite you to participate in this year’s 5th Annual Gratitude (word) Quilt. Instructions and a link that explains the origins of this project can be found at the top of my blog. In past years there have been participants from every continent except for Antarctica. I hope you’ll join us:-)
What a great shot and that was very nice of him to ‘help’ you capture it! :)
What a wonderful shot! Love those bright leaves in motion.
He is as colourful as his surroundings. Makes a great composition!
You are so outgoing… at least I imagine so… I would never think to approach this chap to ask if I could take his photo. I guess that’s what separates the real photographers from someone like me. :) Great shot Madge!
Nice picture, but I like the dry leaves on the ground, to see the grass as is the rest of the year!
That time of year……..love it
o, that machine is great for shots of flying leafs. Looks cool and fun. :)
They are beautiful! How nice of him to help you capture this lovely shot.
