Garlic, most people either love it or hate it.
: : :
I don’t know about you,
but I’m in the ‘love’ camp for garlic.
It is pungent,
but adds so much depth to recipes.
: : :
Here earlier tonight,
at Seattle’s Pike Place Market,
at a market vendor’s stall in the main arcade,
a display of elephant garlic caught my eye,
the purple netting covering the heads popped against the green vegetables surrounding it.
: : :
My husband and I arrived
at the Market several hours prior to the semi-annual food
and drink celebration called ‘Arcade Lights.’
: : :
Prior to ‘Arcade Lights’ start,
we had a couple beers at the Maximilien,
a romantic French restaurant,
with a lovely outdoor patio overlooking Elliott Bay.
The early autumn fog hung peacefully over
the chilly blue salty waters beneath,
while the bright sun above
was lowering
in the
western
sky.

Today,
is ‘Random 5 Friday,’
over at my friend Nancy’s place, ‘A Rural Journal,’
where we link up a post with some facts about ourselves.
Here are my five:
(1) I’m a diehard Seahawks fan. We won our game last night on Thursday Night Football against the Arizona Cardinals, we are now at the top of our league and 6-1 on the season!
(2) The only thing I miss about not working (other than seeing my friends) is wearing my Seahawks Jersey on ‘Blue Fridays,’ and getting my numbers on the football pool.
(3) Lately there has been an up-tick in my image sales and licensing, that’s been nice.
(4) I get to see a vascular surgeon on November 12, thankfully. I’ll be able to get some questions answered about the four blood clots that still remain in my left leg since my cervical fusion surgery (3 vertebrae in my neck were fused).
(5) I’m trying to find some free windows with sills (none on Craigslist yet) to construct a cold frame for my garden.

Wow- I’ll bet that is some potent garlic! My dh loves garlic crock pot roast..heavy on the butter and garlic…it’s pretty dang good and my house smells like garlic for days!
I have never craved for garlic but when I do eat it I make sure I have some breath freshener with me. :)
We live in a little town full of Italians…so there is a lot of garlic used around here. I used to work in a little bakery that made Italian bread, and kept a few the old Italians used. That is when I started bringing home a loaf of Italian bread, slicing it real thin with an electric knife, buttering it, sprinkling it with garlic salt and frying it till it was toasted….oh, how yummy that was!
Love the garlic photo!
For some reason I am unable to enter my link to the Weekly Top Shot. I tried Safari and Firefox but keep getting the same error message – odd, huh?
PK
i like garlic for flavor. i don’t like it the next day when it permeates through my sweat pores! :)
Wow! Dazzling colors and great shot ~ Happy Weekend to you ~ carol, xx
A terrific shot, beautiful soft purple colour of the garlic. I love garlic! But unfortunately it doesn’t love me…gives me horrible indigestion!
That is a fantastic shot and they look fresh!
That beautiful vegetables …! Delicious photo!

I am def in the love camp with you!
I thought those were eggplants in the little inlinkz thumbnail…
Glad you are having fun with the hubby now that you are a “lady of leisure.”
well, garlic isn´t my favourite really. Only use it in one of my dishes.
Thanks for hosting.
Love the purple netting, I use garlic in so much of my cooking. Everything in your photo looks so fresh and inviting
Very cool photo…it’s right up front and the colors pop. Garlic? Well, a little bit goes a long way, but it can be a great addition to certain foods.
I love garlic (and Seahawks) in fact my kids and I just finished planting next years crop. This will be my second year growing garlic. It is pretty easy to grow.
I love farmer’s markets and do enjoy a bit of garlic for sauteeing in sauces and with vegetables. Lovely shot, Madge! :)
Thanks for the visit! I love The Pike St Market.
Our son in law did his internship at Children’s Hosp. in Seattle.
Also had an uncle that was a scout for the Seahawks!
Your pictures at beautiful….and I love garlic!
Plz visit again….I will…Janey
I LOVE garlic too! The more the better! :)
Oh, yeah, gotta have garlic. I hope your visit to the surgeon goes well. Nice to learn that you are adapting to retirement.
Ooo, i like the new look Madge ! And playing catch up, I see your photos are all as awesome as ever.
Hi, Madge. I’m in the “love” camp when I’m eating the stuff. Not so much when I’m smelling it on my hubby’s breath, if he’s eaten some and I haven’t. Whether someone likes garlic or not, what’s not to like about your photo? Great capture.
Beautiful shot.
Nice market shot. Don’t like too much garlic just a hint.
you are always out and about doing something fun in your hood
Great image of garlic :) Hanne Bente
And garlic is very good for one’s health.
Thanks for hosting, Madge.
I’ve learned something to day. I did not know of Elephant Garlic. I’m amazed by the size. Thinking that wouldn’t sit on my windowsill. :)
The purple gave the shot a lovely boast of color with the greens!
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend Madge!
I love garlic, that looks immense. And huge!
Oh, I’m definitely in the “lover” category! Beautiful shots of garlic and purple! =) Thanks for visiting. There are some stunning photos here!! blessings ~ tanna
Your veggies shot is so colourful…and very dramatic too. I actually do like garlic but can’t eat more than the tiniest bit because I end up with the hugest, long lasting headache. If I still drank wine I would blame the wine! Pity, because it does make so much food taste good.
I love the purple netting with the other vegetable. How lucky you are to have Pike’s Market in your hometown.
I adore garlic! Madge, please don’t get tired of reading this but you have got a fabulous eye! Every time I visit, I am simply amazed at your photos…well done!
Gorgeous garlic … from a wonderful farmer’s market I’m guessing? And is there anything more delectible than this little wonder roasted within an inch of its life?
Yum!
;-}
Oh I love garlic. I put it in pretty much everything I cook.
Congrats on the uptick in sales! You definitely deserve it – your pictures are fantastic!
sounds like a wonderful evening, my kinda’ night!! i like your image, i LOVE the netting and i adore garlic. garlic loves me as well, the “fragrance” stays with me, lingers, for days ;)
i don’t watch any sports, except the last 10 minutes of the super bowl and i never even know whos playing…..shameful, i know!!
i have never, ever, not ever missed working!! there are soooo many fun-er things to do!!
Great photo. I think I’m allergic to garlic!
