F/V American Lady, a local commercial fishing vessel.
: : :
in the Ballard Neighborhood of Seattle
is one of a handful of my ‘go to’ locations for photography.
Always busy with activities
and men working on their vessels,
the Terminal never fails to provide images full of color
and interest.
: : :
Today,
was no exception.
Having just gotten out of my car
and heading down one of the side docks where vessels tie up,
a fellow walked around me and then posed for a picture.
I was still tweaking camera settings
getting ready to
shoot.
: : :
We both laughed and began chatting.
We talked about the shutdown of the Federal government
and its affect upon the King crab fleet waiting for permits for the soon
to commence season on October 15th in the Bering Sea.
Both of us thought the US Congressmen
and Senators
that are wreaking so much havoc upon the country
with their childish actions,
ought to be booted out of office so we can elect a fresh set of representatives.
We discussed the high cost of fuel,
for cars and boats
and the huge reserves of fuel on the Northslope in Alaska
that could provide a much needed break in fuel costs for our country.

I enjoyed my visit with Tony
and then didn’t want to hold up a man’s work,
so after giving him my business card,
he disappeared towards the bow on deck.
: : :
I took several shots of the F/V American Lady,
a pretty white fishing boat,
a former crab boat, she is now used as a tender,
shuttling fish from fishing boats
to the processors.
Here,
you see her patriotic bow.
: : :
I was going to look up her stats on the US Coast Guard website,
but was confronted
with the following notice,
‘Due to the Federal government shutdown,
NOAA.gov and most associated web sites are unavailable’ …
… sigh.

Tomorrow (Tuesday),
is ‘Tuesday Muse‘ over at my friend Nancy’s place,
‘A Rural Journal.

it’s really beautiful.
Shutting down websites like that is just a stunt that the Administration is playing.
Nice painting on the front of that fishing boat. It is tricky painting the flag in a way that it looks good from each side and from straight ahead.
A little rusty.
So Gorgeous. I should link up with your friend also.
Like the nation “The American Lady” looks a bit battered at the moment but will undoubtedly pull through.
Nice shot.
Cripes even their websites are shut down?
A fine job of painting this flag so that it looks good from either side.
We proudly fly the American flag everyday in our yard.
a beautiful photo, honoring our country and all those who serve to keep us free!
A beautiful shot.
Thank you so much for your recent visit. I hope you will come again….
This is a fantastic shot of the flag on his boat and what a nice conversation you had with Tony…..All that’s going on in this country right now is ridiculous and it sounds like he could be affected if a decision is not reached soon…..That’s so sad because his lively hood is at stake…..
This shutdown has already impacted us as farmers and my son as a Navy Reservist. That’s all I have to say on the matter for fear of not being able to shut up…
Love the patriotic colors — I love my Country, just not some of the people running it right now.
Oh, I’m a fan of rust! :) Wonderful composition, Madge.
Sounds like a good day, Madge. That’s a neat shot of some cool art on that boat.
