Intersect: in·ter·sect, /ˌintərˈsekt/ (verb): to pierce or divide by passing through or across.
Here at the northeast end of Terminal 18 on Harbor Island,
in Seattle’s industrial area and waterfront,
rail lines intersect.
: : :
At an intersection of rail lines,
a car or engine could be derailed,
if it collided with another car
that was in that place at the wrong time.
Then the engine or car would have to be set upright again,
by use of a crane,
to put it back on the rails,
in order to proceed towards its destination.
: : :
Have you ever noticed how some situations in your life by themselves
don’t have a great deal of significance,
but when they intersect or collide at a point in time
the consequences are very often dramatic and important.
How often do we roll along in life thinking everything is normal
(which is just a setting on your clothes dryer, by the way)
and then events collide
and we’re thrown off track, derailed as it were.
Unexpectedly we are thrown off course to a place
where we thought we’d never be.
Then, we have to regain our equilibrium
and find a new normal.

makes me want to sing ‘tracks of my tears…’ :)
Well I sure have been thrown off track many times. So grateful for friends, family and the Lord to help me get back on. Great picture. So nice to meet you and join in today.
There’s just something about tracks! Great shot, Madge.
Amazing mass of tracks here! It’s true that it doesn’t take much to throw some of us “off our tracks.” :)
Great shot, I looked at it for quite some time trying to decide if its a macro of a model or real tracks… I still don’t know LOL
Real… real tracks on Harbor Island… ;-)
Oh, yeah! I’m still working on a new normal. . .wondering where the tracks lead. I hope yours are steady and even. I like this shot.
I know what you mean… where do these tracks lead anyway! ;-)
Chuckle…normal on the dryer…that sums it up! Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend~
A super focal point!
We’re thrown off track (an unexpected phone call, a Dr’s dx) and then it’s more of the same – but different.
Wonderful thoughtful post!
it is usually someone else who roll smy course int he wrong direction!
oh madge, this is awesome!
Wonderful post and gorgeous photography ~ ah yes, when things collide ~ Life changes in a ‘blip’ ~ Happy Weekend and Happy Creating ~ thanks for ‘hosting’
Carol of: A Creative Harbor ^_^
what a truism, Madge! sometimes, it takes one many years to get back on track.
What an interesting photo! It has always fascinated me the way trains could be shifted just by a simple movement of a small piece of track.
That’s a very cool photo, and goes so well with the thought. I have definitely noticed that its the intersection of time, place, people, opportunity, etc. that really have and impact on so many, many things.
love those curves …
All aboard for the Top Shot award- to late- Madge Bloom has the award winning Top Shot!
Congrats Madge!
It’s as if you knew what I was thinking Madge and your post has come at just the right time. So very true. When it rains it pours.
Hope you are having a great weekend.
I hope you are finding your equilibrium, I’m afraid I’m still in the midst of uncertainty and off course and it’s not mine to set aright…
The depth of field is magnificent in this, I love the lines! I’ve been completely thrown off course lately, hate this time of year.
Hope you get your balance back soon! :-)
Hi Madge! This is such a great POV for this shot! You know, after reading your post and some others, I realize how I am totally lacking in the “philosophical” perspective. I do appreciate what you’ve written, and I think I might be a bit envious at your ability to articulate it. ;-)
A great analogy for sure…I’m sure any one who works on the rails know that it’s not an “if” but a “when” for de-railing. Love the shot and the perspective!
Great photo, LOVE the POV!! :)
You cracked me up with “(which is just a setting on your clothes dryer by the way)” ;)
It’s amazing how many “normals” we go through in our lives.
A derailment in our lives can be as serious as one on the train tracks.Thankfully there is always a way to get back on track.
A wonderful shot of the tracks. When I get ‘thrown off the tracks’ I find that ‘not being in control’ feeling is hard to deal with, it’s so lovely having the normal life back again. Great post. Take care. Chel :)
Great photo! Very eye catching shot.
Great shot! Love the perspective!
Oh NEAT PHOTO!!! Great perspective of the tracks.
Hi. Your post makes me to think my many experiences. Thank you for hosting.
Looks like a miniature world! Nice take :)
Nice lines and I like the fact there are train cars just out of focus in the background! It’s cool to see heavy steel make curves like that.
Thanks for hosting.
I love the colours and the perspective in this shot. Oh, and the lines! Beautiful photograph! :)
Love your thoughts on this little piece of track.
Oh Yes …. I feel “de-railed” much of the time! Great shot and post!
Great shot! There’s something so appealing about railroad trains and tracks.
Yep. De-railed here. The new is slowly becoming normal for me. Great post.
SO glad you’re regaining your equilibrium… ;-)
I used to lose a lot of sleep over getting “derailed”–I was always so stressed, stressed, stressed. I have gotten a little better at taking things as they come.
New view of something old, Madge…thanks!…:)JP
SO much beauty here, thanks Madge!
Great photo paired with provocative thoughts. “New Normal”. Yes, I’ve had to find that. There is joy in the journey, even when we are thrown off track by tragedy. Praise God!
Definitely a shot from the ‘right side of the tracks’!!
This is a great shot! I love the way you connect it to life~so true.
Love trains and rr tracks…fabulous photo, Madge!
Thank you for these words, Madge. What a wonderful capture!
Oh Madge this is beautiful and tugs at my heart and I am sure many others going thorough unexpected turns right now. You have pin pointed exactly how I feel and I can imagine since Nancy’s link sent me here it is resonating with everyone.
Great shot. You are such a fantastic photographer. Life is funny isn’t it? Hope you are OK. HUGS B
Great photo while thinking about how easily in life we can get derailed. Makes it very important to keep a strong center core! Great shot and post!
You sure nailed it Madge and I love the photo!
Thought I’d pop over to your blog as well! I like it. That’s quite a mess of tracks in that photo. If I were to share a photo, how do I go about it?
I don’t know what was wrong yesterday, but I tried several times to link up but your blog just wouldn’t load. It’s here today, tho, so we’re good!
Great RR Intersection shot =)
Awesome shot Madge, and I know what you mean about getting knocked off of my track!
Unique angle. Interesting intersection!
