A bit rustic, a seldom used barn still stands, paint peeling, moss growing and shingles falling. Following the Palouse River northeast of Colfax WA, I came across this barn standing near a covered bridge and a vintage truck peeping out from behind it.
Work is calling, I must go get ready for another really wet day of driving in the rain. Visibility is bad; windows steam up; noise of heaters, fans and defrosters on high; traction is less; kids are soaked; bus steps are wet and slippery… Monday.

Neat barn find, Madge! I love the roof colors. The tattered paint, dirt road and old truck do give a rustic feel.
The colors are so amazing in this photo!!!
Oh I LOVE it!
I hope you got down closer to the barn to get a pic of that truck whose nose is sticking around the corner!
that’s a beauty
What a lovely rural scene!
Great place.
Good job!

nature is definitely settling in on that roof!
I missed that old truck at first…very nice!
Beautiful shot!
Affascinating….
Great picture – that is one of my favorite themes – old barns, they have so much to tell. Hope your day went well with driving in the rain. School bus drivers are heros!!
I think you need to make a puzzle out of this one — love the colors (and your new header.)
Fantastic shot! I love the moss on the roof. Very charming!
Loving the textures in this one Madge!
Delicious photo, I really like the roof, surprising.
What a great barn! I love the roof and that old truck is just perfect!
This one is a real beauty…so much to like about it.
This is so charming and so beautiful with wonderful colors. I love this barn a lot. Great picture!!!
This would definitely be one of my favorite barns. I love everything about it…makes me wish I could paint!
I looked again…it even has an old truck peeking out from behind it! Perfection!
Great shot, and the peek at the pickup is perfect–leaves us curious. Praying for you as you drive in the rain.
My favorite for so many reasons!
Oh that barn. What a beauty. I hope that you puy your barns in a book someday and then another book with the all the very best landscapes. I think the books would sell.
you find the best barns! i see that old truck peeking around the corner too! awesome shot!
Sounds like a mess, so be extra careful driving, but that barn is a BEAUTY! LOVE the curved lane & the truck sitting along side.
Thank you muches & bunches for joining =)
Lovely, looks like a model even without a tilt shift effect ;-)
That roof is awesome! Look at all that moss and lichen, really pretty1
This is a real find, Madge. Although not good for roofs, love when moss takes over. You chose an excellent perspective for this shoot so all the elements could be a part of the photo. And, yes, I remember those Mondays you described. Thankful to be retired now.
What a great, great picture, I LOVE the moss! :)
You be careful out there on those wet roads!
Love the way a driveway circles around in the picture!
Wish I could move this onto my property and fix it up. It has sososo much personality. I do not think of a circular driveway out in the country. That gives it even more personality. genie
A greeting-card-worthy photo for sure! I am late viewing/posting here…still trying to clear out my blog and get some room for new photos – it’s too time-consuming!…but I’m so glad I caught this. A beautiful shot on a not-so-beautiful Monday for you. We had the same here on the east coast and I hope your week has gotten easier. Hugs!
This is one of the prettiest barn photos I have ever seen! I love it!
What a great photo. I do not miss the driving in the rain with defrosters on, but i really miss all of the cool shades of green there are west of the cascades.
Great shot, Madge. It has a lot of character.
Yes, this old barn is beat up, but it sure is photogenic.
wow, that´s a beautiful barn. Love that roof. :)
That poor poor barn. Almost makes me want to cry. And how cute is that little pickup truck peeking out from behind…. :)
