Most people have some routine with which they swear they can ward off a cold or the flu. Besides colds, some things people think they can ‘ward off’ with garlic are: an evil eye, evil spirits, vampires, negative energy, spiders, bad luck or you can fill in the blank ________. No, I’m not catching a cold, but when I saw these pepper and garlic swags at the Pike Place Market, I did think about garlic and the fact that some people still wear it around their neck. I’m not so sure about warding off evil or a cold, but one thing for sure, it will keep other people away from you! Of course, some people just eat garlic and peppers…what a novel idea! I don’t have any potions, or routines that I engage in to ward off anything, what about you?

these are the prettiest ever peppers… this is beautiful. the only thing I do to ward off illness is make sure i get 15 minutes or more of sunshine on myself…
It’s gorgeous! The only thing we ward off are colds and flu with vitamin C.

Oh I read somewhere that people who eat sauerkraut do not get the flu and since I like sauerkraut I eat it a lot so far so good. Take care oh yes and I got a flu shot they are free here in Ontario.

I try to avoid places with sick people in them this time of year but it’s not so easy sometimes.
I would love one of those to hang in my kitchen! I’ve heard that garlic and cayenne peppers are anti-fungal or something, and I know my great grandmother used to hang garlic around the neck of her sick children! I just try to eat healthy and get a good night’s sleep, when I am able to.
Garlic is good at warding off kisses from pretty girls. Thank you, but I will skip the garlic.
Beautiful display of peppers and garlic. I cook with garlic and grow my own plus a few herbs and sometimes peppers.
I do not have any magic potions. Just take a lot of vitamins plus certain minerals every day. You know elderly stuff for elderly people.

First…love the Christmas header! Beautiful!!! These swags are cute. I once knew someone who took care of a sore throat by drinking warm milk with garlic in it. I can’t even imagine what that would be like. Maybe it was supposed to take your mind off the sore throat and think about something else. Yuck!
