Summer is ebbing quickly during these last bright days with chilly nights. I’ve noticed more and more that the weather while still quite warm in the mid 70s during the day is falling into the 40s at night, and I need a hoodie to keep warm for most of the day at work now. Displays have changed in the stores (I even saw the first Halloween costume store opened up the other day at Southcenter Mall), baskets and pots of chrysanthemums are seen everywhere for sale, the last of the fruits and veggies are ripe and ready for harvest in the garden.
While at McLendon’s Hardware store yesterday morning buying cement paint (for the front porch) I bought six colorful Kale plants, and three gallon sized yellow/butterscotch colored chrysanthemums, two False Sea Holly (which looks like tiny purple Teasel) and two gallon sized Japanese Blood Grass.
Here, a yellow wild flower was caught still wet in the morning dew on the beach on Vashon Island… one of the last flowers of summer.

the tiny beads of dew are lovely on this bloom. :)
Days are still hot and humid here but we are getting the cooling morning and late afternoon breezes…finally. I can’t wait to get some ‘Fall’ flowers planted in the garden to bring some color back.
Delicious photo with beautiful colors, I love.
I really like your composition. I love those dewdrops and colour saturation too. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Love the drops of water that you were able to capture. Beautiful!bbbbbb
There is something special about fall flowers. They seem so much hardier that the ones that thrive in summer’s heat. Our weather here in west Michigan is very similar to yours. At least temperature wise.
Cool nights indeed, but as long as we’re getting these fantastic sunny days I’m not complaining!
We went for our evening walk around 6:00 tonite and there was a definite chill in the air. Didn’t have a jacket but certainly could have used one. Fall ya’ll!!
Wow that is stunning!

Stunning shot Madge.
beautiful!
You have very distinctive seasons, unlike our area. Your photo here is delightful, love the dew drops.
The dew and wilting leaves tell the story – cooler nights and less sun. A beautiful subject well isolated from the background.
Don’t you just love love love being attacked by all these beautiful colors!? And love the cool nights for sleeping! Beautiful shot!
Beautiful! I love the dew drops on the petals.
I’m with Paul! We’re having some glorious days on the Olympic Peninsula.

The colors perfectly capture the mood of what you’re trying to capture here… well done!
