Nothing quite matches the beauty of the full moon rising. August 2, 2012 was a full moon. August 31 will be the second full or Blue Moon this month. Blue moon, as in ‘Once in a Blue Moon,’ meaning something that happens rarely. This astronomic phenomena of two full moons in one month happens about every two to three years, the next such event will be July 2 and 31 of 2015. Here a red barn in the Palouse nearing its century mark (in 2019) sits under a full moon.

amazing .. i am beyond envious .. here in the big city the sky is not ever really dark .. and the low clouds always seem to obscure any chance i have to get a decent full moon, so I’ve stopped trying ..

I stay up until the wee hours of the morning and have been noticing these beautiful moon views. Some nights there were clouds in the sky as well which was just lovely. I tried to get some shots of the Blue Moon of Kentucky but nothing like you’ve managed here. Well done!
