‘Rip-Proof Overalls, a New Pair Free if They Rip.’ Ghostwriting on the side of a brick building in downtown Colfax, Washington, advertises a variety of products. There are several layers of writing advertising books and cigars as well as the still bright ad for Rip-Proof Overalls. The lovely arched windows grace the front of the ‘Fraternity Building,’ built in 1889, the year that Washington became a state.
Laying low today, no painting, not much of anything… I’ve been getting all things medical caught up while I’m off on summer vacation. Yesterday, I had some surgery on my mouth and have been on pain medication and probably will all day today too. Eating is an interesting proposition..

Made me smile, as usual. Except for all things medical. Take care.
ok, i want a pair to see if they are rip-proof… interesting. (:
ooh. you’re my second blogger bud that endured mouth procedures/pain yesterday!
Love how you’ve captured this old building with its many ghost signs.
Hope you’re back to normal soon and able to eat your favorite food!
So sorry to hear about your mouth pain. That is never easy. Hoping you feel better soon.
Well wishes on your recovery from oral surgery; very nice structure to the building so artfully dressed. Surprising they didn’t paint over all other ads before putting up a new one – still, neat stuff.
Sorry about your surgery, but better to get it done now…. Wish this company was around when I bought my overalls! :)
Did you rip yours…? Thought I was the only one who did that!
don’t remember rip proof overalls, but i do remember run proof pantyhose. showing my age.
I remember those and the fact that they ‘puddled’ around the knees and ankles…
Pudding, yogurt, soup, rice pudding, popsicles. Hopefully there are plenty of these in your refrigerator to soften the blow of the surgery. Sorry you are hurting and hope you heal quickly!
I seem to remember another “rip proof” sign you did some time ago – am I correct? The building reminds me of Ontario, where I see the same thing, including the boarded windows on the second story.
Hmmm, I don’t think so Paul… I have a couple shots of ghostwriting from around eastern WA for ‘Wheatmanna.’ Which I’m assuming is either bread or hot cereal…
I love this shot! The ghost signs are wonderful, the town is so interesting, and the light is gorgeous and evocative. Another winer!
And, Madge: You’re very short-changed in the Fun Factor Department this summer! It’s so good to catch up on stuff, but. . .
Take good care. If you haven’t earned a dish of your favorite ice cream now you’re being w-a-y too hard on yourself!
I’m planning a couple over-night trips (hopefully) to shoot the stars…
Love that extra “by heck” under the sign!
I love photographing street scenes like this, Madge. Hope your feeling better soon.
Great shot of an interesting building! You’ll have to take a shot of the front of it sometime.
Love that old building.
Beautiful old building you show.
A speedy recovery with your mouth :)

Rip proof? No such thing for little boys. I KNOW!
I need a pair of rip-proof overalls for the dh! Hope you feel better soon – mouth surgery is not fun!
LOVE that there’s a green light, but no one is going. Awesome capture, Madge!
I hate absolutely anything “dental”. Sending hugs your way, for sure. XO!
