Parked and left for good.
: : :
As the golden rays of the setting sun pour amber light
on the freshly plowed wheat fields, a farm truck sits unused.
: : :
What is that precise point that prompts a farmer to pull a truck into a field and parks it,
never to be moved again.
Is it broke down and needs repair, or perhaps there is the thought that it might be sold later,
or perhaps it was meant to only be temporary.
Whatever the thought process,
it is clear from driving through farming communities,
trucks parked for good happens
on a lot of farmsteads.

kinda sad, but i think i’d be tempted to just ‘keep’ it, too. :)
I love that time of day. That’s a cool photo, by the way.
For me, the light really makes this image!
Sadly, too many old trucks (and cars too) dot the landscapes. This one made for a lovely photo op though. :)
Beautiful colours and textures.
It’d probably be put to use around my place!
I’ve seen some pretty ancient trucks still working out here on the Olympic Peninsula. I’ll take the “glass half full” approach and picture the truck here as still having life in it, still in use. The wood in the back still looks solid.
Beautiful light, forms, and color in the shot!
Really beautiful. Your composition is perfect. :)
And as the years go by it will make many a photo opportunity!
I’m a city boy. How would I know???
This photo reminds me of a favorite book when I was a little boy, something likeThe Little Engine That Could. There was a little railroad engine and no one thought it could pull the big load. Yet, when the time came and it got its chance, it groaned into action and pulled the load over the mountain to the sound of, I think I can, I think I can.
If this truck gets its chance to start up and work again, let’s hope it would start chanting I think I can, I think I can . . . .
I like the evening light in this shot.
Awesome truck.
They do that frequently, don’t they. But then, it makes for great photo ops like this one. Beautiful!
Terrific shot! Love the composition and colours.
Rural America at it’s best. I love old trucks!
Excellent red on reddish image!
do you think they know what fabulous photo ops these provide? I wonder.
Hee hee — I have one of those “parked for good” vehicles on our property. Large garden ornaments, for sure!
Thank you for sharing at Rural Thursdays this week. xoxo
Cool old truck- I would definitely keep it!
Love those colors!
I like the lighting. Neat old farm truck; I have never seen one that short boxed before.
