Growing flowers and vegetable starts for you. Local Burien business, Bel-R Greenhouse, grows starts of a wide variety of plants supplying stores and nurseries with stock for home and professional gardeners. Operated by three generations of the same family since 1947, they have five acres under greenhouses and three acres of outside growing area.
This last school year I daily passed by their business on 24th Avenue S.W. in my school bus. Every day I thought the same thing, ‘I ought to stop by on the way home from work and take a couple shots.’ This was especially so during the winter when the plants behind the semi-transparent greenhouse siding was about the only color I saw all day. Finally, on the last day of the school year, I had my camera with me and did stop for a couple shots. Here, with the sides of the greenhouses rolled up, the scene is a rainbow of botanical color, isn’t it?

Oh what a pretty place to visit. I love greenhouses and try to visit the local ones each spring.
Great assortment.
Oh it is truly a great colourful shot. B
Such a great presentation, Madge. Thanks!
I think that would be a satisfying job, working at a greenhouse, watching things grow.
Definitely a rainbow of color — so glad you stopped to capture it, Madge. :)
Flowers convey joy and beauty, and joy and beauty is a good deal. Better to cultivate flowers that make weapons.
Locally, our Farmer’s Market won’t really started until this weekend (crazy, right!) so I have to venture an hour away unless I hunt down some small nurseries (which I confess, I haven’t done). How fortunate to have a nice, big colorful nursery right there on your daily path.
love flower markets, greenhouses, garden shops .. for a city mouse like me its a way to pretend being in the country
So inviting! I would want to investigate further, wanting to wander up and down, soaking in the colours.
