‘Sleepless in Seattle,’ a modern fairy tale come true. The 1993 blockbuster movie, ‘Sleepless in Seattle,’ was set in the houseboat community on Lake Union in heart of Seattle, just north of downtown, starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Tom Hanks played bereaved widower Sam Baldwin where he sat on the bench at the end of the dock (to the right in my image). He also stood leaning on the railing around to the left (out of my camera view) gazing at the stars as the lights of Seattle danced on the water beneath him. Ahhh, the memory of it all, it was a great romantic comedy, wasn’t it?! There was an opportunity several years ago to have purchased this houseboat (the largest on Lake Union at 2,720 square feet) with four bedrooms, 1.75 baths and a sweeping view of nearly 360°. It went for a cool $2.5 million bucks and Tom Hanks was not included in the sale!
I don’t watch a lot of movies, but I do enjoy Tom Hanks and have seen this move several times. What about you, are you a fan?(Clicking on any image gives an enlarged view).
Thanks for joining me today, for the view that is right here! ~ Madge

I would have never known this was a houseboat had I not read the narrative! Wouldn’t you love to see the inside!
Love that movie…and love your shot!
Sure hope you’re feeling much, much better, Madge.
A favorite movie. Your shot is great!
memorialized in a movie. :) great shot, madge. just the right amount of light and color left in the day.
I love this movie, and have seen it a few times too. I’m a fan of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan movies..
Gorgeous shot and beautiful capture, Madge!
It may be a houseboat, but it looks to be permanently tethered with the utility lines. And 2½ mil is too expensive, even with Tom Hanks thrown in!
I think I have seen the movie once, but long ago. Don´t remember much. The foto gave me a feeling of vacation. .)
Really interesting, nice framing and beautiful light. Greetings.
What fun, fun, fun your post today is.
Thanks for the opportunity, Madge! I hope you are finally feeling somewhat better now. (I LOVE Sleepless in Seattle….and the houseboat is a wonderful setting.)
This would be an amazing place. When I was in Seattle 18 months ago, we took a boat ride around the harbor and saw lots of these houseboats. Very cool.
I like Tom Hanks as an actor. Now lets talk about Meg Ryan . . .
Nice shot and yes, I’m a Tom Hanks fan.
I used to do ABC Wednesday, Madge, and sometimes I do Sunday Bridges, I think it’s called. I’ll try your Weekly Top Shot meme, once my eyes get a little less tired than they are at this very moment–been reading a novel that I can’t wait to finish and have worn out the ol’ things! Thanks for asking!
Oh I loved that film – in fact I generally love anything with Tom Hanks in it. What a beautiful houseboat – don’t know if I would pay that kind of money for it though. :)
That is one of my favorite movies. Your shot is great! Thanks for stopping by my blog. have a great weekend.
there are only a handful of movies i will watch more than once… this is one of them. thanks for this!
Great shot! I love Sleepless in Seattle, one of my all time favorite romantic movies! :)
Hi Madge! Such a gorgeous scene. I hope to visit Seattle one day soon. Can you believe I’ve never seen the movie though. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I really appreciate your comments. I’m so sorry to read that your pictures were used without permission as well. Take care and hope your weekend is wonderful.
Loved that movie and loved You’ve Got Mail with Mr. Hanks. There are so many movies out there today that I have no interest in seeing…I guess that’s why I never go…well, that and the unbelievable prices they charge! Really enjoyed your story!
Hi, Madge. ‘Sleepless’ is one of my all time favorites and I live your shot.

Hi Madge, the photo on my link is not showing for some reason. Can you delete my link and I will try to link up again. I tried linking again but, the tool does not allow two links from the same post. Thanks.
I usually love anything with Tom Hanks too. What a neat and interesting shot, Madge. ! Thanks for hosting Weekly Top Shot.
It looks a great place to be – you have captured it well.
Thanks for hosting.
A beautiful scene! the light is perfect. :)
Not a big fan of this movie… saw it once. Enough! But pop on When Harry Met Sally and I have a hard time turning away. Crystal and Ryan a team that works.
A great film, that takes me back! I do hope you’re recovering from the horrid whopping cough, poor thing, I hope you have a much better week :)
