A spring storm passes behind a brightly painted red barn. Near the very rural, very small town of Viola, Idaho, I turned down Potter Road, having spotted this bright pop of red just off Highway 395. I’m unsure why, but there seem to be more ‘red’ barns in the Palouse than any other rural area I’ve ever visited. Sitting on the edge of a freshly plowed and planted field of spring wheat, this barn appears to have been spray painted and quite recently too. A neat stack of bricks await some application for a paving or building project and an open doorway beckons one to come inside.
Thanks for joining me today, for the view that is right here! ~ Madge

It’s really bright! I wonder why the spot under the loft window, what might have been there that they sprayed around and then removed.
What a wonderful color against that drab sky. I still want to know, though, why barns are usually painted red. :p
i can tell the owners of this barn love it. so beautiful and very well kept.
bright and beautiful! thanks, madge!
The neat pile of bricks caught my eye also – obviously a frugal sort, who might have need for bricks, “some day”!
Fantastic red barn- love it!
Fabulous RED barn…love it!
Someone hard-working and industrious lives and works here. It’s nice to see a barn that’s so fresh and full of life!
Not only is this a good looking barn, the perspective you chose when you took this photo is splendid!
My kind of barn.
This is a very handsome barn! I wish I could go inside that open door and look around! Great shot! xx
It always warms my heart to see these barns after a makeover. Beautiful photo, Madge!

What a nice & neat lil barn, love that sky!
Thank you for joining =)
Madge…This is a real beauty. What a great paint job and shingled roof. Now, that is unusual I have seen no shingled barns here in our county. They are all tin. Like that little side entryway. It interests me. Beautiful image. genie
I think you could say it is intensely red! Lovely photo!
This is a real beauty! Love how bright it is.
Barn photos are near and dear and your photo is superb. Classic Red barn! :)
