An abandoned dairy barn sits slowly decaying and plays peek-a-boo through the bare trunks and branches of a Broad Leaf Maple. The barn and surrounding former pastures are now part of a 492 acre wildlife refuge in the Scatter Creek area near Rochester, WA. The pastures of this once proud dairy are now lush prairie where the public can walk and venture further into the refuge to enjoy wetlands and Oregon White Oak forest where wildlife such as song birds, herons, pheasant, beaver, deer, coyote, rabbit, raccoon, bobcat and fox can be seen. I posted a photo of the entire barn several weeks ago, you can view it in this post, ‘Dilapidated Dairy in Scatter Creek.’
Thanks for joining me today for the view that is right here! ~ Madge
Love that cedar shake roof…so rustic and the moss really adds to it!
Very cool shot! Love the moss growing on the roof.
I really like this peek a boo shot. Love the bright green moss on the tree and barn too.
I like your perspective on this one, Madge. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a barn with a shake shingle roof. Is it common in your area? Now that I think of it, very few houses in Texas have shake roofs. Maybe some fancy ones in the city but not in rural areas.
Loving the perspective — this is a gorgeous image, Madge.
very pretty.
Yes, Yes, I remember that barn & that shot! WoW! I love it… that sky was awesome =)
MADGE…This is such a cool shot and perfect for framing. The title you gave it is perfect. Your capture of the image is awesome…the colors beautiful. Such nice photography. genie
Love all that mossy beauteousness. (My new made up word inspired by this post) Isn’t it wonderful that they preserved this farm for the wildlife and the public. Love stories like that! Great photo. Makes me feel like I am there peeking around the tree. xx
Lovely! I like your peek-a-boo view. You can definitely tell it’s a PNW barn.
The green roof moss adds so much to the capture.
Those mossy shingles just say Pacific Northwest to me! Nice shot.
Love the moss, so bright and green.
I love the rich color in this shot.
Great peek-a-boo shot, love the moss too! :-)
I love the look of moss covered roofs, but it sure play heck with maintenance. – Margy
Nice shot! I love the peek-a-boo look.
That is stunning, love the natural textures.
