Starring Meryl Streep, ‘The Iron Lady,’ is now showing at The Guild 45th theater. Built in 1919 and originally named The Paramount, the live stage venue had to change its name when another theater in downtown Seattle claimed that name. Becoming a film venue in later years, the Guild has been a long time icon along 45th Avenue Northeast in the Wallingford neighborhood just east of the U-District (University of Washington District). I must admit I’ve been to the movies in many venues in the area over the years, but not here at the Guild 45th.
I really enjoy the artistic talent of actress Meryl Streep, I find her amazing. How chameleon-like she is and virtually changes into another person. Watching some clips of this movie, she is very much like Margaret Thatcher. Have you seen this movie yet? Let me know what you thought of it…
Sharing with ‘Your Sunday Best #4,’ with Nancy over at ‘A Rural Journal,’ and with ‘Mellow Yellow Monday #160.’
Great nighttime street shot. I love the neon lights and all the colors capture here, Madge.
Loving the fisheye effect! Gorgeous old theater. I love Meryl Streep too. Have you seen “It’s Complicated?” Fun movie.

Hey—memories. I remember the Guild 45 when it was just the plain old 45th St. Theatre. My sister worked there and I worked there for a very short time when I was 14. I didn’t like it at all. I grew up in the Wallingford district—fun time 50s.
You should have gone to see Michael Martin Murphy—and if I would have known we could have had a fun time. MB
