Deep shadows rest upon this rural grain elevator. A passing late winter storm with foreboding black clouds races across the wind swept fields near Winona, WA. Dropping cold rain, these frequent storms bring nourishment to the fertile soil waiting to receive seed. I love this part of Washington state, the wide open fields and far flung small towns with hard working families who raise our crops. The Palouse is the premier wheat growing region of southeastern Washington state and a part of western Idaho, photographers from around the country and around the world flock here to capture the beauty of the undulating hills and farms dotting the region.

Oh my, look at those storm clouds! Beautiful shot! Thanks for linking up with Rural Thursday :-)
Moody but with lovely light on the grain elevator!
Lovely shot! The atmospherics were cooperating! Sometimes I wish they’d put in more underground power lines, though!
Looks like a photographers dream….such beutiful scenery! Great shot!
I would be one, too, if I could get out there! Beautiful scenery! =)

Great moody shot.
beautiful and those clouds are so dark but still a pretty light is able to shine through!
Great shot and I just love the stormy sky!
Great capture! I love that neck of the woods, though I don’t often get over there. Photo ops galore.
Love the lighting in this shot, Madge.
Love those threatening skies and how the road just seems to end but yet then you realize it’s going down a steep hill and must curve to the right to cross the RR tracks.
That sky is awesome. Great color.
This reminds me of the trips I once took up to NY state where there was great space and beautiful farmland. Oh, I miss it so!
Lovely countryside with pressing weather.
The brooding sky and the simple block form of the structure with pronounced shadows make for a great picture, Madge. Bravo. It looks like a Hopper.
A real wow effect!
Great image!
Love the light in your image!
would like to do a watercolor of your shot of the Fox church in Fox Washington.
Thanks for your consideration.
