Your daily news is served with the sounds of fish mongers and the smell of fresh coffee and pastries. On the corner of First Avenue and Pike Street, you’ll find ‘Read All About It, News, Papers and Magazines.’ At an open entrance from the First Avenue sidewalk, the racks facing the arcade hold just about every variety of magazine you can imagine.
While the opposite side of racks hold over 100 newspapers from around the world. Often when I visit the Market, I stop by to peruse the headlines. I see many people ‘reading,’ not buying, but the employees don’t seem to mind.
Editing Information: Both images were shot with my Pentax semi fish-eye 10-17mm lens and had barrel distortion. Using Photoshop CS5, I duplicated the background layer and then chose from the ‘edit’ menu ‘transform.’ From the ‘transform’ menu I chose ‘warp,’ then dragging the distorted portions of the images to create a straighter perspective for each.

Cool shot!
What a great store. Living in a rural community I sometimes feel isolated from the news of the world. I can’t even find a Vanity Fair magazine within a hundred miles!
that’s so cool! what a great affect! I really want a lens that wide!
Love the picture and especially the information about what you did. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like a reader’s paradise! I like how you framed the photos.
Wonderful capture Madge!
I love the colors and details you captured. I think how you edited the shot to correct distortion is awesome.
I think it would neat to use the extreme end of the fish eye and let the distortion run wild to give it a fun effect.
Great shot, Madge. I love how you draw us into your shot with the line of overhead lights.
thanks so much for linking up!!
Wow! You nailed these, Madge. Love ’em!
Hi Madge, I just found you! Thank you for the comment on my blog! You take amazing photos! This is someplace I have missed in the market, but will definately check out next time I am there.
I love the open air feeling of this retail space – it feels almost like a pier full of stores. So cool in style, I almost feel like its summer and I am at a beach. That is has open door, even in winter, is what makes it so inviting!
I’ve always wanted to visit Portland one day and see Pike’s Market. Loved this photo!
Pike Place Market – Read All About It is located in Seattle, Washington
Great perspective in this shot!
Beautiful editing!
The Market is such a lot of fun. I have nowhere near the skill in photo editing that you have. I would have read your explanation, but I don’t read Greek.
Wonderful shot Madge. I wish we had a magazine stand like this.
I love the “fish eye” effects of your photos! Never traveled in your area, but hopeful to do so in the future!
This is such a classic Seattle spot! Wonderful shot, nice effects!
I just love markets like these! Thanks for stopping by!
Drawn to the postcard rack — I could spend hours browsing through postcards.
It looks very joyful there. There are many coffee lounge chains from Seattle in Japan.
thanks for this creative post! wonderful pics :)
You live in such an awesome place. Looks just like the movies.
I feel like this photo is drawing me in and leading me around! I love it!
I love the leading lines of your photo. It really draws me into the depth of the store. I might like to see the end of the fist couple of strings of light. As is, they take my eye out of the photo. I’m guessing that the end of them might help my eye turn right again and come back into the store. Great perspective. Thanks for sharing!

I love the colors and details you captured and the composition really draws you in. I also like how you included a bit of the street scene in the frame. Great shot!
