Sitting, unused rising and falling with the tides, the Gillspray is slowing rotting away. Built in 1939, this old tug now sits, moored along a dock with questionable reliability itself. Sixty feel long and seventeen feet wide, the cabin and bridge don’t look quite as rotten as the rail. Hopefully someone will give this beautiful old boat a new lease on life with some repairs… perhaps they’re too expensive, maybe that’s why she sits in her current condition.
she still looks beautiful but it would be nice if someone gave her a makeover!
I love the close ups on old boats – they tell such stories. I hope someone saves this boat.
makes for a great photo, but i’d not want to sail in her…
Love the textures in that shot, Madge.
My husband and I laugh over the truth of a saying, “A boat is a hole in the water into which you pour money.” Some of these old boats are/were such beauties. It’s heartbreaking to see them in such decline but it takes a lot of money to get them back in shape. . .and even more to keep them that way.
This is one of my favorite photos of yours, Madge. There’s so much going on…hopes, dreams, promises…dashed. My wish is someone will salvage and restore this beauty.
Excellent detail. You can almost feel it.
You prove that beauty can be found in many rundown things Madge- well done.
Wow! – I love this shot Madge! Well done!
Too bad for the Gillspray, but good photo opportunity for you! Great natural textures, Madge. :)
