Sheltered from the Storm - Farm Tractor

Snow… it is that time of year. In the Palouse region of southeastern Washington state, snowfall brings life giving moisture to the fertile ground which produces a vast wheat crop. Winter wheat is sown in October and a blanket of snow insulates the tender crop from freezing and dying. Here snow drifts past a farm tractor sitting, sheltered snugly under the open exterior stall of a weathered red barn northwest of Colfax, the county seat of Whitman County.

  1. We really didn’t have any snow this Christmas here in Saskatchewan Canada. Which is very unusual. But I must say, I enjoyed the warmer weather rather than fighting the blustery weather.

Excellent photo! And I like all your Christmas lights in your past posts ~ pretty!

  2. Gorgeous! The snow looks so pretty falling & believe it or not, we woke to a lil bit of snow on the ground this morning, too, in Southeast Missourah! =)

Thank you so very much for joining this week’s Barn Charm =)))

  3. I have been hoping for a week of extreme cold temperatures so that I can go take photo of ice covered Palouse Falls, but maybe that will not happen this winter. I recently had my album of Palouse Falls photos that I took Jan 2 this year featured, which gave me the idea that I should travel that way again. Nice image of the old machinery in a snow storm.
