Canadian Goose… Graceful… Gliding… Feeding…
One of my favorite places in Seattle to go for a stroll, look and photograph is along the Ship Canal and Fishermens’ Terminal in the Ballard neighborhood. Here a goose is gliding along in the azure water of the Ship Canal. Some people and municipalities try to discourage the geese from occupying certain parks and open land. They flock to fields and beaches leaving a mess behind them bringing ire against them and a battle to get them to leave and not return. Personally, I find them beautiful birds. I’ve always enjoyed that they mate for life and tenderly care for their young. Some of our Canadian Geese are year round residents here in the Pacific Northwest and some migrate. I wonder is he staying, or not staying?
beautiful image. :)
Thank you!
Nice shot! We have a good number over-winter here also.
I’m sure you do… love them, don’t you??
Hope he (she) is staying. Such beautiful birds, and such a beautiful photo. Love it!
Thanks Susan… I do enjoy them.. they are big and beautiful!
Hope she’s not asleep.
Let’s hope so… lol, no just kidding… they sleep on land, sometimes with one leg tucked up and their head tucked under a wing! ;-)
Very nice image – serene! Big flocks of these critters hang out in these parts. I haven’t gone looking lately to see if any are sticking around for winter. As cold as it’s been lately, I’d head south if I had wings!
I wouldn’t mind a southern migration myself… but alas, it is not happening, so I’ll just add another layer of clothes and keep on going!
This is truly a beautiful photo.
Thank you, Kathy…
