Here,
last spring,
on my most recent trip to the Palouse
in southeastern Washington state,
traveling along one of the ‘blue highways,’
I came across a huge field of these brilliant yellow coneflowers.
Their sunny faces are turned up
to the clear cerulean
blue skies.
