The earthy scent rises from the warm ground and floats with the soft yet heady perfume of a wild rose, wafting into the air. Roses are such a passion for so many gardeners, their beauty and scent unsurpassed. Often taking a lot of care, the only ones I have are a couple old hardy climbers. But here, is a rose that grows wild along the highways and byways of the Pacific Northwest. I find it’s simplicity beautiful. Each year I pick a gallon or so of the buds, take them home and spread them out in a card board box, once dry they make lovely sachets for friends’ lingerie drawers as well as my own.

such a beautiful, rich color!
So beautiful. I love wild roses…and the fragrance is heavenly. I think we’re about a week away from their blooming here.
Wild roses bring back memories of my childhood, as they lined the country roads where I grew up in the Willamette Valley.
I love the simple beauty of the Wild Rose. Most of the ones we have here are much lighter in colour.
Love that vivid shade of pink!
Beautiful! I have a shot similar to this coming up soon. . .ours are much lighter, too. The first ones I’ve breathed in this year have been true heaven – one of my favorite summer scents.
Such vibrant colors. What a wonderful and thoughtful gift for your girlfriends!
It’s always nice to come upon a stand of these wild roses on a hike or a bike ride.
Wild roses! Very nice. Our roses are starting to flower and will flower for another two months or longer. You are lucky to be able to cut wild ones.
So beautiful. I bet they smell divine.
Yes, pretty and delicate rose wild with those soft tones. Lovely flower.
Not a big rose guy, although the smell is sweet. Nice image.
The color on this is really amazing — gorgeous bloom.

Wild roses remind me of growing up at my grandparents house.
Oh wow! I’m speechless!! LOVE the colors.
