A-Ring-A-Ding-Ding-Dong… Quiet for many years and now swept out of existence, this is the bell tower on what was a rural one-room school in the Kent Valley, Thomas School. By the time I started school in 1956, this little school house had already been replaced by a two-room wooden school building and in early 1930s by a red brick building with four classrooms. The small one-room building was moved about a quarter mile north to a farmstead and attached to the farmhouse. I often wished it has still been sitting on the school grounds where I attended so I could have seen the interior. By the time the farm was abandoned a few years ago, cyclone fencing was put up and I still could not get close enough for a good look.
too bad they moved it….some people just don’t have a sense of history.
Yes, I’d like to have seen it also.
I love the details in older buildings and you captured these very well, Madge.
I agree with Bruce, the details are great.
Wonderfully atmospheric shot!
