A couple weeks ago,
while camping in Birch Bay WA,
we took a day trip to Lummi Island,
only a short 10 minute ride on a very small twelve car ferry.

Driving around,
sight-seeing, playing on a deserted rocky beach,
we stumbled upon this wonderful moss covered split rail fence
and old garage.

Instantly,
I was drawn to the deep shadows,
the rich and variegated greens,
and the zig-zag moss covered fence leading
to the grey weathered
garage.

I can see why you were attracted to this old garage. I too would be clicking away if I passed it. The moss adds its character and aged look to the fence. Great capture Madge!

Absolutely perfect photo. We spent the day on Lummi Island on Sunday – glorious day – views of the islands and Mt. Baker and the Sisters – lunch at the little cafe and herons on the beach – the perfect end to our week of vacation.
How fun to find a “forgotten” item. Like you, I’m drawn to the colors, the textures, and that weathered old building.
Neat find. I too, like the colors, lighting and contrast between moss and weathered wood. Neat zig zag fence, I wonder why they built it that way.
