Early on a summer morning at 05:19, the Norwegian Star cruise ship glides silently into berth along the waterfront in Seattle. At 965 feet in length, and 2,348 maximum passengers, this gleaming white vessel is decorated with ‘stars.’ Here you can see some of the passengers standing in the portal opening in the ship side, which gives some appreciation of the large scale of the vessel.
I got a nice picture of her at Victoria’s Ogden Point last May – she is huge!
Yes, she is! I worked on the Seattle waterfront for twenty years, two things never ceased to amaze me (1) how big ocean going vessels are and (2) as huge as they are, when gliding into berth they are silent… one moment nothing then poof, the next there is a 1,000 foot ship easing into the dock! :-)
