Crab pot : krab pät : [noun] : a pot for trapping the crustacean – crabs, traditionally made from wicker, now from steel and wire.

Here,
at Fishermens Terminal in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle,
some pots have been made ready to catch
Dungeness Crab.

Dungeness crab is a very popular seafood delicacy,
sought after for its sweet, tender meat.
Averaging two to three pounds,
each male crab caught will
yield about one-quarter
of its weight
in meat.

One of my favorite,
albeit expensive, treats
is to have is a fresh Dungeness crab cocktail
at Pike Place Market in
downtown Seattle.

Excellent photo.
Very cool… a foreign world to see these vessels and the tools of their trade. Having said that, I’ve seen it on television.
I find the piles of crab pots so fascinating. This is a fabulous shot of them.
Not a seafood lover, but I do like this image!
Love the confusion of bright colors, shapes, textures and lines.
Oh my. I do love Dungeness crab! Madge, you won, you won…look for a PM!
