The humble Dandelion, love it or not! A herbaceous, perennial plant with long deeply toothed lance-shaped leaves. Giving meaning to the fact that the name comes from the Old French, ‘Dent de Lion,’ meaning ‘Lion’s Tooth.’ Dandelions adapt well to our environment, proliferating in open sunny areas, especially our lawns! Many battle with them annually, digging, poisoning all in the effort to have a weed free, green lawn. But they are also delicious in salads and as cooked greens, if harvested while young before flowers appear in the early spring and late fall. Dandelions are a rich source of vitamins and minerals and are used in many folk remedies. The yellow flowers can be gathered and made into wine. But for me, a close inspection shows they are delicate, intricate and beautiful. Their sunny yellow color when held under the chin of a child, reflecting upon youthful skin, one can exclaim, ‘You love butter!’ Well, sometimes I love dandelions too.
Thanks for joining me today, for the view that is right here! ~ Madge

I don’t believe they’re that humble – their mission is to take over every yard in the world! :)
Nice shot Madge.

I think the Dandelion is quite beautiful. Having said that,I really don’t want a yellow lawn.
That will take a few hours! I’m glad to here you’re getting better.

They are so pretty up close, too! I love dandelions. So fun to blow the little seed globes away with a child! Hope you are getting better!

I am often amazed at the beauty of simple objects when examined very closely.
Funny how even weeds can have such beauty! I have never eaten a dandelion before… might need to give it a try! :) Beautiful shot!
Yellow is such a bright and happy color. This is a beautiful shot of the poor maligned dandelion.
