Brook : bro͝ok : [noun] : a small stream, also called a streamlet, rivulet, brooklet or runnel.
: : :
But it’s all so confusing,
here is a definition of the three:
Brook – A very small natural waterway, smaller than a stream.
Stream – A small natural waterway, larger than a brook,
but smaller than a creek.
Creek – A medium natural waterway, larger than a stream.
Often a tributary to a river.
River – A natural stream of water of considerable volume.
: : :
I’ve heard it said that you can step across a brook,
jump across a stream and
wade across a creek.
: : :
Well,
whatever the verbiage,
here’s a brook or stream in the Palouse during spring,
draining the wheat fields that are greening up
for the season ahead.

~Blessings Always~
In this brown, dry land that is a truly beautiful sight.
A beautiful photo! For me, of course, the English language is confusing…
Greetings from Germany
What a glorious photo – such beauty on that side of the state – we love to visit there. Your header is stunning!!!!!!!!
Beautiful picture, Madge! I have always loved bubbling brooks, streams, creeks, etc. Whatever you call it, I have always loved its beauty!
What a beautiful image. I also love your cover photo. Those words are interesting because I always wondered when a brook becomes a stream then a creek, etc.
Around here, that would be considered a stream. I would love to sit beside it and hear the water run!
This is really pretty.
Beautiful spring picture, Madge! I love the bright green and vibrant optimism of nature!
Beautiful pictures and we have a lot of those streams, creeks and brooks on our farm but most mountain springs coming up out of the ground. We’re fortunate to have them and rarely do they dry up during the summer. I envy that beautiful green grass but spring is on the way here in Virginia and I can’t wait. Have a glorious day!
Rita
What a gorgeous scene, Madge! Everything is so lush and green.
