Weathered wood planks and lumber is a subtle beauty.
: : :
Here,
in the very small eastern Washington town of Roslyn,
a weathered wooden cabin door is contrasted by the rich greens of summer foliage.
: : :
The textures and deep brown hues
of weathered wood are so attractive to me.
If I could I would have a home with an unpainted exterior
so it could weather naturally into the beauty that comes with time
and exposure to the elements of seasonal weather.

I do love the look of weathered wood, and the composition for this shot is fabulous!
Love the contrast in color!
Love the framing green leaves — contrast so nicely with the brown wood. Very pretty Madge. Hope you are well. xo
One of my favorite subtle beauties of all!
My husband has a sawmill.. the grain of rough sawn lumber is one of my favorite things.. once aged & weathered, it is even better.
Thanks for hosting. I live in the country on a small property that I organic garden. Only a dog and cats but I love living away from town.

The contrasting colors and textures are very appealing. Your composition helps a lot too!
Great looking structure.
i really do love dark barn wood & the green is really pretty in contrast =)
Neat find, Madge. I like the different degrees of weathered wood contrast between the side and door. The pretty green grass and trees make a neat frame for the building.
Lovely shot! I would love that in my back yard.
The old family farmhouse my Dad grew up in was weathered wood. I can remember it being dark and so was the barn and the corncrib. Sadly it burnt down many years ago. Thank you for the sparking the memory.
Nice framing…indeed you caught the essence of rurality♫ My contribution can be found: http://lauriekazmierczak.com/thunderbumpers/
Well I finally have something rural to share♥ Your shed image is so adorable….
Weathered wood remains a favorite of mine…in fact, I prefer it. When the Pres built our new deck, the first thing I asked is how long it would take the wood to “age”!!! Hope this post finds you feeling good, Madge!!!…:)JP
Very nice one, Madge.
Great looking door!
This is so pretty! My photo club did a photo walk around the office grounds this week and I came across some interesting stone work that we pass by everyday and overlook. The weathered wood reminded me of the colors and textures I found in the stone walls. Lovely! Hope you are progressing in the right direction! Thinking of you!
