Snoqualmie River - Autumn Reflection

A cloudy day gives rich reflections of autumn colors along the Snoqualmie River near Snohomish WA.

The river moving at an almost imperceptible pace created the perfect canvas for the yellow, browns and greens of the low hanging Broad Leaf Maples to paint their reflection upon it. Here in the Northwest we also have a native tree called a Vine Maple which turns firey shades of red in the fall and the leaves are about the size of the palm of your hand. But the Broad Leaf Maples have a much taller and broader canopy and the leaves are the size of large dinner plates, turning to a beautiful bright yellow in the fall.

Yesterday was a very long eighteen hour day. After my regular eight hour shift, I transported one of our local high school’s varsity football teams to Highline stadium for their rival game with another of our district’s high school’s teams. They came out a half hour later than expected to start the trip and the trip lasted almost two hours longer than expected. The game ended about 11:45 so I got home at one this morning. Today, I’m transporting girls varsity volleyball to a district south of us near Joint Base Lewis-McChord and the trip will be six hours if they lose in the playoffs or nine hours if they win. Needless to say, I’ll be taking my Samsung Galaxy S3 smart phone and my Samsung Galaxy Tablet with me to wile away the hours. – UPDATE: Well, the ‘trip’ bus I’m in doesn’t have a data port.. I wonder how long my batteries will last… So much for quelling boredom.
