A cloudy day gives rich reflections of autumn colors along the Snoqualmie River near Snohomish WA.
The river moving at an almost imperceptible pace created the perfect canvas for the yellow, browns and greens of the low hanging Broad Leaf Maples to paint their reflection upon it. Here in the Northwest we also have a native tree called a Vine Maple which turns firey shades of red in the fall and the leaves are about the size of the palm of your hand. But the Broad Leaf Maples have a much taller and broader canopy and the leaves are the size of large dinner plates, turning to a beautiful bright yellow in the fall.
Yesterday was a very long eighteen hour day. After my regular eight hour shift, I transported one of our local high school’s varsity football teams to Highline stadium for their rival game with another of our district’s high school’s teams. They came out a half hour later than expected to start the trip and the trip lasted almost two hours longer than expected. The game ended about 11:45 so I got home at one this morning. Today, I’m transporting girls varsity volleyball to a district south of us near Joint Base Lewis-McChord and the trip will be six hours if they lose in the playoffs or nine hours if they win. Needless to say, I’ll be taking my Samsung Galaxy S3 smart phone and my Samsung Galaxy Tablet with me to wile away the hours. – UPDATE: Well, the ‘trip’ bus I’m in doesn’t have a data port.. I wonder how long my batteries will last… So much for quelling boredom.

That sounds exhausting – but a good opportunity for some extra pay (hopefully the extra hours translate into extra pay). Lovely photo and good luck on your trips.
Gorgeous reflections of your Autumn offering Madge — take care of yourself. Don’t want you getting sick again. xo
Oh…wow. The leaves and the river are so beautiful, Madge! (Aren’t there any “ports” in the building where the kids are playing?)
This is a beautiful scene. Those long hours of waiting on a bus can be boring. Good luck.
Cloudy is good but foggy or rainy even better for the colors.
Beautiful scene!

Autumn is so beautiful. Lovely shot, Madge.
Thanks for hosting.
Beautiful golden colour and reflections.
Perhaps you could try to take pics out of the bus window? It reminds me of those long school excursions as a teacher too – sitting on a bus crowded with excited, noisy teenage girls.
What a gorgeous reflection! The autumn colors are just beautiful! Our color has been hit and miss and mostly isolated trees. Wonderful photo!
