Here,
beside my front porch,
a cluster of brilliant pink primroses, bloom in full glory.
Our winter was so mild,
they over-wintered and started blooming again nearly a month ago.
I was very surprised, that’s the first time ever in my life
that primroses purchased one season
have held over to the next.

I’m not sure what I really believe or think about global warming,
but even a layman like me who has lived in the same climate for a lifetime
can see that the weather is changing.
The Pacific Northwest, at least the regions west of the Cascade Mountains,
have never been known for harsh, cold nor snowy winters.
But when I grew up in the 1950s and 60s,we definitely had more snowfall and colder weather through the winter
than we’ve had in the last 15 or 20 years.
This was our warmest winter on record in the more than 100 years of record keeping for our area.
And weather elsewhere has certainly been on the abnormal scale as well.

Here’s my five randoms for the week:
1- I’ve turned coat on Pentax, this week I purchased a new mirrorless camera,
the Fujifilm XT1, and after playing with it for just one day, I’m glad I’m making the jump away from a DSLR.
2- I’m not looking forward to selling my used Pentax gear on eBay, ugh.
3- I’ve been watching a BBC drama on HULU called ‘The Indian Doctor,’
about a medical doctor moving to Wales in the UK during the early 1960s, so far a very good show.
4- I’m reading a book by Janice Holt Giles, published in 1951 called ‘Miss Willie,’
about a teacher who moves from Texas to teach in a one-room school in the hollers of eastern Kentucky.
5- My husband and I put sheets of 3/4″ plywood under our mattress to firm up our bed for his back,
and it is still quite comfortable, much to my surprise.

Haven’t heard of the show or the book, but they both sound good! Hope you enjoy your new camera, and don’t have much trouble selling the old one.

1. I’ve heard about Mirrorless Cameras as I looked them up. Sounds like it’s a good choice. Maybe someday I’ll be able to afford something different.
2. I have an E-bay account but have never tried selling anything there. Guess I’m afraid no one would want to buy it.
3 & 4. – Haven’t heard of either but do I detect a theme there that you enjoy “historical” stuff.
5. I bet plywood is much cheaper then buying one of those sleep number beds.
Loved your pretty Primroses. I bought my mom some and they have really been lovely.

Hello, Madge. We call these primroses “Polyanthus” here in Australia, where they grow very happily in our garden. Melbourne doesn’t ever get very harsh winters so they keep coming back season after season for many years.

For some reason, when I read the discussions about the new cameras, it feels like math to me…and that’s not good! I guess I don’t know what’s really going on. :-) I’ll be curious to see what you produce with the new camera. You do such a great job with the Pentax!

Beautiful color! Yes, I agree with you. Growing up in the Hillsboro OR area, I remember lots of snow and much colder winters. Even here in the SE corner, it’s warmer now than when we moved here 10 years ago…but I pray it will get through this phase and on to the cold phase again. We love BBC stuff…I’m checking to see if Netflix has The Indian Doctor; it sounds interesting. Have a wonderful weekend.

The book sound really good. I like stories that show the meeting of different cultures, especially when the cultures are right in our own country.
