The Palouse, one of the richest most productive wheat growing regions in the United States.
: : :
Here,
along a ribbon of well maintained graveled road,
a squall line passes by,
drenching the emerald green wheat rising from the fertile earth,
beginning another season of growth and the eventual harvest of golden,
nodding whiskered heads come August.
: : :
While taken several years ago,
on a week long trip to the Palouse during spring break from school bus driving for a local district,
this image represents what those wheat fields
are probably looking like
about now.
: : :
I thought for a moment about cropping this image
into a square as I often do to give my readers a closer view,
but the beautiful expanse of the Palouse makes cropping difficult
without leaving
good bits
behind.

Sorry,
the blog hop is up late today,
I’ve had a terrible time with my asthma
for the past ten days.
Thanks,
for your
understanding.

Did you say early spring? I’m all ears. Although not looking forward to my asthma kicking in either.
Hope you are feeling better – love the Palouse and any photos of it. This one is spectacular!
Beautiful spring picture, Madge. Feel better soon.
Beautiful area and sky.
Rapturous view….take care!
A famous landscape!
This is a fine ‘spring’ shot. I really like the capture of the rich green color. The threatening clouds are so typical of spring. A very strong shot.
I love the green that is special in winter wheat. I learned at age 35 what plants were growing so soon in the spring only when we moved into the country. I hope you are well now, dear Madge. Take care of yourself.
This is simply a stunning image! There are so many aspects and so much detail while maintaining the simplicity. Well done!
What a great shot. The Palouse area is a fabulous place for photos.
While your photo is wonderful as usual, Madge, I’m more focused on you feeling better….:)JP
