The Red Barn Door - Kent WA

Con·trast [noun] ˈkänˌtrast: the state of being strikingly different from something else, typically something in juxtaposition or close association.

:  :  :

Here,

a rustic red barn door

sits in contrast against the bright green grass.

The weathered wood is a study in contrast between light and dark.

This image is like life.

Sometimes,

it is full of contrasts.

Consider retirement, because of injury and limitation,

rather than a choice to not work anymore.

Our hopes and dreams versus reality.

Emotionally,

lately I feel I am coming closer

to reconciling the two

and beginning to find my footing again,

which feels good.

Very good

indeed.

  1. Madge, although I’m unsure of why I wasn’t getting your posts, I have signed up via email. Hope you are feeling strong once again!!! This green grass makes me drool…all our brown is coated with frozen white similar to that of the frozen tundra, I imagine!…:)JP

  2. Finding your footing…ahhh, a very good thing. And I’m going to borrow that phrase. This past year, I’ve felt like I have lost my footing and not as a result of my foot surgery. This week my mom has been in the nursing home for one year and I am way off balance. We’ve now begun Lent and I’m hoping to find my footing during these next quiet weeks ahead. Madge, I can always find something to relate to here. Hugs!
