Frenchglen, a very small, rural community in the high desert of eastern Oregon.
Here on a wood plank porch of a building in Frenchglen,
a rough wood bench beckons weary travelers who are stretching their legs during a long drive.

I love the high desert of eastern Oregon, especially Harney County.
If you have never been to this region of the west,
your visit will be rewarded with vast vistas, pristine mountains
and beauty around every bend in the road unfolding before you.

Thank you to all my blog friends who have been faithfully visiting me.
I am gaining strength daily, able to do more,
and am moving towards
normal activities.

a good place to pick up a splinter or snag your shorts! :)
What a beautiful bench (and photo)!!! :) I would just want to load it up and bring it home!! I just found this Rural Blog Hop recently, and I’m so happy I did!! How fun :) Have a wonderful day!!
That is one old, old bench. I agree with Tex- a good spot to snag your pants or get a splinter.
It’s a little worse for wear but it still looks like it would hold you up.
Oh, I bet that bench could tell some fun stories! :)
I have NEVER been to Frenchglen! I’m assuming this is part of the original Pete French ranch….years ago, I read the most fascinating book about him. So much in Oregon that I haven’t seen! This is such a wonderful vignette, Madge. (I’m happy that you are continuing to recover.) Hopefully, I’ll have a “rural” image later today!
Quaint. Another nice find and proof of your good eye for subjects. I have to admit that I thought of splinters first thing also. :)
Beautiful shot!
Love the textures you captured in this shot, Madge. Glad to hear your doing better.
In wonder how long the bench has been there! Glad you are feeling better.
I love the look of the bench. I’m sure it would have many stories to tell of the people that sat on it.
Glad you’re feeling a little better.
Great shot! I would love to sit a spell there :)
I’ll bet that bench could tell it’s share of stories from over the years!
Hi!I think there are many stories in this bench.
Thank you for hosting.
Looks like a strong bench.
Madge,
I am glad that you have turned that corner and are getting back to being you. So glad that Summer is nearly here and that you will be able to be outdoors.
This bench and porch have so much character-which you have beautifully captured.
Jemma
I need to get out to Oregon, I have heard it’s a beautiful state. I like that old bench , it says “welcome”
betsy
Beautiful textures!
What a peaceful and lovely shot.
A lovely rural spot and I like the distressed feel and the simplicity of the bench.

I love woodplank chairs, they look so sturdy and love the rustic look of this one you found
I would love to have that bench on my front porch! :)
I’m glad you are doing better Madge and hope you are all back to normal soon!
You capture the prettiest color tones in your photos! Love this one :)
