Washington’s Skagit Valley explodes in a profusion of color.
: : :
As the annual bloom of the tulip fields progresses with each bud’s pop of yellow,
red, pink, purple and white, the visitor count climbs exponentially.
April brings warmer spring weather and with it the beauty of field upon field of blooming tulips and daffodils.
These fields of bright blooms draw millions of visitors from our area and around the world.
Many of those who descend upon the fields are photographers.
: : :
Each early spring when I’ve driven the hour and a half north of Seattle to the Skagit Valley,
I’ve been amazed at not only the beauty,
but the unbelievable number of photographers combing the fields for that perfect shot.
Of course I came to shoot tulips and daffodils, and I do.
But I also find myself drawn to shoot the shooters as well.
Here, a fellow photographer is intent upon his camera settings,
getting ready for yet another shot.

really awesome – i’d be drawn to that valley, too. :)
Looks like your camera settings were perfect, the landscape setting is pretty perfect also. Love the layers of color.
How lovely! We are spring starved in Europe this year.
Oh, my word! What a fantastic photo! Absolutely gorgeous, Madge!
Madge, this is stunning! I love that you included human interest in this as well. Love it. <3 As always, thanks for hosting! I've been thinking about you and hoping all is well!
gorgeous, oh so gorgeous! =)
A photographer’s dream! Wow!
Ahhh, and I get to join the pilgrimmage next week! Aren’t we lucky to live amidst so much beauty? Thank you for hosting. I’ll be sending you spiritual bouquets next week.
The color almost mind-blowing, Madge! I keep thinking that I would love to visit spring flower festivals in Washington and Oregon, but we are always still in late winter here in NE Oregon. Just can’t get going! This is such a terrific image.
I don’t have the verbal skills to describe these colors, so I won’t attempt it. thanks for sharing.
Absolutely love colours! I hope the photographer doesn’t squash any flowers. : )
Very cool, Madge. One of my favourite kinds of candid shots is capturing another photographer at work, This is GREAT!
wow Madge… s’gonna be a while before we see all that color… but soon, soon:-)
oh Madge; this really appeals to me. The man setting up for his perfect capture made for yours!
absolutely stunning!!
Brilliant! xo
now this place is somewhere I would like to visit!
This is gorgeous! Landscapes are wonderful, but I’ve always been drawn to photographing people DOING things, doing what they love to do.. a potter at the potter wheel.. kids at play, rather than posing.. etc.
This is the best of both worlds!
Congrats for your amazing photo. I really love it.
Hi! Stunning beautiful shot! I want to go the valley,if I would live in Washington state.
Thank you for hosting.
Absolutely gorgeous tulips! And the photographer adds a personal touch to the image. I’ve got some Spring flowers for you, too, Madge! Enjoy :)
What a great spot to capture some color.
Gorgeous! I would be there too if I were anywhere near!
